I voted! And the economy is killing people... literally?

Hmmm, so Obama is top of the ballot. Hope that's an omen.

Yes, I read about the young man who shot his family. So sad.
He is in California anyway. Not sure how the order is picked in each state, but I am sure it's different state by state.

The police on the local news seemed certain the man has no known history of violence or mental illness and as of now they're convinced his financial troubles pushed him over the edge, so quite sad indeed. Sadder, I really and convinced it's not the last such story we hear and instead just the start of a trend.
I love that Bob Barr is second. Hopefully he does well out there in Cali.

"McCain camp keeps saying very openly they want to turn the page on the economy, not talk about it, they'll lose if the economy is an issue"

I have heard the media say this as an attempt to place blame on republicans for the current crisis. When the facts our the blame out of Washington goes to the democrats. I have never heard anyone from the McCain camp say they want to turn the page on the economy.

BTW...Besides hiring Raines as a campaign advisor, which is another idiotic lack of judgment. Obama himself in 1994 led a class action prosecution against citibank for not giving home loans to people that Citi didn't believe qualified. So when you mention that "I don't expect anyone to be able to fix it, but I expect you to freaking acknowledge that you're in touch" we need to remember that the worst possible way to go about trying to fix the problem is to give more power to people that were involved in causing it.
Yeah to be honest, I've no clue how California picks the order, given that Barr is second it and green party candidate is before Nader who is more well known, it's almost like they pulled out of a hat except Obama is on top. State elections use random alphabet, but not sure how they pick presidential order.

Nah the turning the page on the economy thing to instead attack Obama, comes straight from the McCaign camp actually --

"We are looking for a very aggressive last 30 days," said Greg Strimple, one of McCain's top advisers. "We are looking forward to turning a page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's aggressively liberal record and how he will be too risky for Americans."

I'm not talking about power really... just saying they both have questionable associations, people who have helped campaigns, etc. Hell who doesn't? If I ran for office people would find people in my past they could use against, none as nasty as both of these guys know I'm sure but still... enough for a "scandal".

Going there now is just stupid because they can BOTH get nasty if they want but why? If they want to prove they care about this country they'd be at least talking about what we care about and showing they know what everyone else is dealing with instead of throwing around he's not a good American, like me or let's not talk about what affects you let's turn the page on that and talk about how this guy's not one of us, he's a terrorist lover *gag*

I agree then, bad move by McCain.

Some states use the amount of signatures turned in, some use the order of when they were turned in. That might explain Nader being last, he decided to run really late and I think he just made up that party name because I've never heard of it.
In 1929, right after the stock market crash that ushered in the Great Depression, a lot of people committed suicide then as well; with many businessmen jumping out the windows of skyscrapers.

You'd think this country would have learned something from that time, but apparently not.
Here in Pennsylvania when things get rough we simply cling to our guns and religion we also tend to have antipathy towards people that aren't like us. I mean it works for us, maybe others in the country should follow suit.
In California when things get tough we cling to umm the beach and our lattes and maybe Disneyland -- Mikey Mouse loves everyone, it's hard to be down at the happiest place on earth :P heh
