OMG Spiderman was arrested! I love how they're hauling him away in front of kids.
US Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to announce that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be transferred from Guantanamo Bay to New York to stand trial. Welp, this should be a fun news day then shouldn't it? I can hear it now. OMFG OBAMA SUPPORTS TERRORISTS!!! He wants to bring them HERE!!! To let them roam free in your back yard! Because you know, you good God fearing Americans who work in prisons cannot be trusted to keep them in prison. You're gonna set them free soon as they get here. Bunch of traitors. To be honest, THEY were probably safer in Guantanamo. But that's not how we're supposed to do things. Commit a crime and sooner or later you're supposed to face the justice system. That's how I learned things. Of course I learned in public schools. Friggin socialists! They probably taught me a lot of bullshit. Blame my dad. He died young. Didn't grow up and get rich and send me to a fancy rich private school, so I don't know any better. Oh someone on Morning Joe already asked why NY? Erm, where was the main 9/11 attack again? Dumbasses. You do usually prosecute where the crime happens. Should we send them to Iowa courts instead? Not to mention NY courts are some of the biggest in the country. They handle big cases. They have big security.
Books:
Finished reading Rosemary and Rue: An October Daye Novel 4/5 stars. I'm really generous with my stars, if it entertains me and I could read it again it's usually 5. But I just couldn't do it. Teetered between 4 and 5. Something was just not 100% on this one. I suspect the next in the series will make it to 5. It's entertaining alright. I think it was because a few of the characters that we should have better met, we didn't. A few we didn't need to meet so well, we did. Stuff like okay so you were basically totally healed with magic right? But... in the next fight the wound was re-opened? Wait didn't we make a huge deal over how big of a deal it was that they went to that person to heal you? How potent that magic was? Otherwise, I loved it.
Now onto Grave Secret (Harper Connelly Mysteries, Book 4). I decided on it next since it's a series I'm already well into. Saving Fire
and Graceling
to read together.
Keegan:
He's so cute. Back when he did the MS walk, I left him a thank you. He must have just gotten around to logging into his MySpace. I just got this message today - "YOUR WELCOME IT HURTS YOUR LEGS BUT YOUR WORTH IT BECAUSE YOUR A FAMILY MEMBER THATS WHY I DO IT EVERY YEAR."
As seen on Jimmy Kimmel -- Awful Library Books! I think my favorite title thus far would be Dissection Guide for the Cat (and Selected Sheep Organs). Oddly enough it's never come up in my Amazon recommendations. Also tempting is Anyone Can Be Cool... But Awesome Takes Practice. Oh and Looking Forward to Being Attacked. How cheery! Some of those books don't look that awful, just awfully outdated.
I just made the mistake of watching the Carrie Prejean / Larry King interview. I think my IQ just dropped. Wow she's dumb. And a brat to boot. And she's a media darling on the right? She's pretty much being held up as a role model for girls. Yes, because she's for "opposite marriage". She's dumb as a brick. Personally, I thought the quote from Donald Trump was more insulting than what Larry King asked her himself. She just tee hee hee'd about the Donald Trump quote like it was the cutest thing in the world. The question Larry asked was easy -- Why did you settle? Not WHAT was the settlement. He basically said, yeah I know you can't talk about that. But WHY did you go into the mediation for a settlement. Your motivation isn't blocked in an agreement. Just the terms are. Still she didn't want to answer that, so he joked about how rude he was and moved on. She had a temper tantrum anyway. Ripped off her mic. Acted like she'd leave because Larry is like Oh, my, God, soooooo rude. But she really wanted the attention so she stayed. But then she didn't seem to get why she couldn't reeeeallly hear him or be heard. Larry is telling her well if you put the mic on you could hear and we could hear you. DUH. If she is who the daughters of the far right are supposed to look up to, good luck to them. When you raise a generation of girls too stupid to be anything but covergirls, have fun with that. I mean I guess maybe they can always speak up for opposite marriage and tell us that they think that you know that um God he like um totally like umm thinks that umm like umm gays they umm teee hee uhh should totally like be friends and stuff but um you know they should not have sex because in his Bible God says that you should only have sex if you're married and tee hee that's only if you're a boy and a girl. But it's okay if you're gonna go to hell, we'll all be friends until that happens. Or -- you know they can make sex tapes of their own. Whatever. By the way why isn't God against boob jobs? Except in the cases of cancer. Just wondering. What's wrong with what he gave you? Why are you going against God's will?
What was your favorite class in high school? (And no, lunch doesn't count.)

I found a house that Melissa and Brian might both wanna buy. Any other Doctor Who fans too. Here. Kinda afraid to show Brian. Our house might end up with a makeover and I don't watch Doctor Who. Though he could decorate it worse. It'd be better than turning it into a Star Trek ship or something.
Yeah, in case you didn't click that link -- it comes from me spending too much time at this site tonight: http://lovelylisting.com/ Man the things that people do to their houses. Namely houses they want to sell. Really matching your comforter to your wallpaper? Couldn't find matching carpet too? Something that looks like blood on the floor? Couldn't throw a rug down for the picture that you're using to try to sell the house?
Watching TYT:
TYT talking about Carrie Prejean's sex tape made me LOL.
Oh also liked TYT telling off Pat Robertson for saying that Islam isn't a religion. Video here. Cenk slams Christianity some to prove some points, so sensitive types need not watch.
Lister update:
Lister went to the vet. His ear is still being irritated. But he's still on track to have the cone and stitches removed next week. He'll be so thrilled. He's HATING the cone. Cats love sleeping but contrary to popular belief they do occasionally do more than eat, sleep, and poop. Lister is having a tough time walking around as he just crashes into stuff with the cone on, even though it's clear. He does venture out around the house, once in awhile. But yeah.. He mostly sleeps it off still. As I was waking up today he did come running into the room and jumped on the bed, taking over my pillow before I was quite ready to give it up.
NaNoWriMo:
Writing: 18,853 words so far, plan to write a little more before bed. I may have to do a COMPLETE re-write when the year is over. Ivel's story is sucking at the moment. The concept is okay but woah boy... It isn't so bad that I wanna beat myself or anything, but bad enough that I'd gonna be a 50k outline when I'm done. *nods*
Reading:
I finished A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse: The Complete Stories). I'm kind of annoyed. Not by the book, it was good. By how many fans gave it one star reviews. Apparently a lot of them read the short stories in the anthologies they've been published in before. They're disappointed. If they'd read the book description they'd know that. I did read the book description and have never read the short stories before, only the full length novels, so I loved it. *shrug* Have also gotten another 60 or so pages into Rosemary and Rue: An October Daye Novel
, which is getting way more interesting now. Yay! Want to finish it though. Am on page 200something out of 300something. Don't want to rush but have tons of books I'm excited about starting next too. Ahh. The problems of being a junkie.
I finally spent the gift card that mom, Keegan, and Karina sent for my birthday. I know you're all dying to know what they got me. Well, what their money bought. Whatever...
First off, I used it to buy Brian's Christmas presents. Hey, why not. Between them and Brian I have $125 worth of gift cards. I have about 5 or 6 books lined up already. I always want more more more books, of course. But sharing is nice. And, well, Brian already told me that really all he could think of for me to get him were the two Avatar books. Easy. Done. He's getting James Cameron's Avatar: The Movie Scrapbook and The Art of Avatar: James Cameron's Epic Adventure
. I was tempted to get him James Cameron's Avatar: The Reusable Sticker Book
to be funny, but I decided it wasn't THAT funny. I might still order it before Christmas though... Because even though it's not funny, he'd probably actually sit there playing with the stickers. Seriously.
Don't worry, I wasn't gonna spend all of my birthday money on Brian! No No. I ordered myself some things from my wishlist. To add onto my to read pile -- Beautiful Creatures, Tempest Rising (Jane True)
, and Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate)
. And Brian wonders why I've decided that perhaps I need a Kindle for Christmas :p He never orders books and thinks sometimes that ever he wants one. HA! I keep Amazon in business. Time to re-organize my bookshelf again maybe... I think I really am out of room probably.
Also, I still have Brian's birthday gift card left to spend. Oh how I love Amazon. My only real shopping addiction. They're ev0l and good both.
Actual conversation we just had:
Brian: You know I love you and shit
Me: You love shit?
Brian: And you.
*insert my raised eyebrow wtf? look here*
Brian: Hey you got top billing.
*insert same look here again*
Brian: You know you give me that look a lot when I speak.
Indeed I do.
Random thoughts:
In this OMFG Obama is a 'Kenyan Socialist Nazi Terrorist-loving threat to freedom' world, 1 Republican voting on anything that Democrats support is bi-partisan. So The House did indeed pass a bi-partisan health care bill. I'm still against mandates. But it's nice to see the parties finally working together. Now we know who will be the next person to be kicked out of the big tent that is the Republican party. ;)
The daughter of one of the victims of Fort Hood is calling for everyone to not blame Muslims. She says, basically, that this was just a man with issues. Not a group of men. Not a Muslim. But a man. Bravo to her for being one of the few voices of reason. A victim. One of the only people with true reason to be angry. And she is wise enough to see things for what they are while others are not, even through her own pain.
My CC is back! I missed him. This will mean nothing to any of you. I'm just glad. I've not talked to him in ages.
11,551 words so far. I'm almost caught up to where I want to be, even if it means lots of re-writes later. It could be worse. Way worse. Could be way way better too. Poor Ivel does not like having his world rushed.
I feel like hell. Didn't go pick up meds today. Put it off til tomorrow. Woke up feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Muscle aches etc. Brian said he didn't do it. Head is all stuffy. Thought I had a fever but then it went away if I did. I need sleep. zzzzzzzz.
NaNoWriMo update: 10,124 words so far. I skipped a day, or was it two? Plus I did some minor tweaking. No, no major editing -- I know I'm still supposed to have crap. Just a little tweaking as I had screwed up a bit so bad, I had to fix it enough to be able to keep writing the crap even ;) I'm sure when I finish this my main character will be happy to know I'll re-write his world -- probably next year. After I finish holiday stuff anyway.
Me update: I'm almost expecting to experience Night Twitches soon, aka Myoclonic Jerks. I don't usually attempt to predict these as they happen so rarely. But, I've actually had something similar happen a few times while awake the last two days now. So, I'd say it's a good bet they're coming for me -- soon. I'm overdue for them anyway. They suck. But I've not had them much since on the higher doses of anti-seizure pills either. So, maybe I am wrong. Maybe the similar things I experienced while awake made up for the falling asleep ones I've not had happen in ages. *nods* Speaking of sleep. I feel so sleepy that I could fall asleep right here, right n
Thanks to mom I grew up around hospitals. Nursing homes. Etc. I can't help but think of one thing. Oh how I hope that Glenn Bleck is an actor. Or isn't. Oh which to hope for? If he's as nutty and whiny in person as he is on his show? See I've had bad bad bad experiences in the medical system. But here's the thing -- the biggest douchebags are in administration. The second biggest douchebags are over-egotistical doctors. But the people down in the trenches who will actually take care of you? They're almost all good people. Unless YOU are a douchebag. Then they'll make your life hell. Trust me, a lot of hospital staff are going to be liberal types who want the system to change. Let him start ranting to them. Fun fun. Perhaps they can drug him real good. People say fun stuff when they go into surgery, I hear. Hospital staff used to like to talk about that. I bet they'll be talking about him for years to come.
Me? Believe it or not I mean it when I say I use my blog to vent all of my MS rants etc. I was an ideal patient. The nurses would ask me and mom if I knew that I could ask for stuff. I really only whine about how much pain and stuff I have on here. I'm TOO good of a patient, I never complain. It's probably my biggest downfall actually.
At least we know they can call on Jon Stewart to fill in for Glenn Beck.
