My mom (her Vox here or LJ here) took part in Collage Mania (her suns are on page 15 but are claimed already). Had I realized this earlier I'd have posted earlier but I'm *cough* stealing her infor about it so you guys know about it in case interested. It's going right now! 235 collages are available today for a minimum donation of $80 to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause. If that is too rich for your wallet, the ones remaining tomorrow go for $40 each. Help FFAC and Virginia Spiegel meet and exceed her goal of raising $30,000 for the American Cancer Society and add to the more that $150,000 already donated.
Also, I haven't really talked about it here, because I've primarily been using it on other blogs, but I joined SocialSpark (a blog for money site). You know, pick an opportunity you're interesting in and qualified for, write a post, get paid. And yeah, it works, I made a little money last month. Well it's a little different than some sites like that, in that it's also a community and has some blog back opportunities. I of course had to check the charity channel. And found a woman who now blogs about her daughter that was recently diagnosed with MS. Selected Visions, reminds me of my mom shortly after we found out we found I'd had it with her posts like the one about Vitamin D in MS. Of course my poor mom then had to counter-research Vitamin D with Sarcoid too. But I know there's more than a few with MS who read this on the LJ crosspost, so if you have any kind words you can offer her or just want to add another MS blogger to your feeds, go check her out.
Time to send toys to kids stuck in the hospital at Christmas time! Go on, you know you want to! No kid should be in a hospital at Christmas without cool stuff! And parents have enough to worry about. So go buy some kids something! Or you're just a grinch! :P Child's Play
I know, we don't all have money to spend. Personally I have $0.00 of my own money. But, if you do have any money to spare, go on... A movie? A game? Even cheap things like coloring books sometimes end up on those lists (they vary hospital to hospital). Do it for the kids! Brian, he saved for a Christmas charity fund this year, so we're actually putting a fair amount into it + Portland Rescue Mission + NORD :) In fact, I think those kids in the hospital are getting more than everyone else the two of us combined shopped for (unless you count Brian's GPS to himself too).
Shhh don't tell my nephew, he got a $20 present ;) Ok a $35 present, we got it for $20 by shopping online on Thanksgiving Day. Perfect gift for someone who is 6 and currently wants to build robots when he grows up. Not so perfect for mom who picked it up for me at the Portland store, wrapped it, and then had it talk to her from within the wrapped box ;) Needless to say, she's hiding it at Viola's house until Christmas so Keegan doesn't get curious about the robotic voice coming from the stack of presents, heh.
In other news: Pain alien in full effect tonight, even good migraine pill is not enough. Brain not working, kept re-reading this and finding missing words, wrong words, etc so erm if this post is a mess well I tried to fix it. And I got my new ring already and love it. It lays flatter than my old one so I can be artistic and it's not in the way.
Pain sucks.
Charitable causes?
So we live in a world full of wars, hunger, sickness, etc.
But hey, you know what's a really good thing to spend your money on?
Getting some chick you don't know Free boobies!
I assume in the hopes you get extra special after pics?
Imagine if people made a site like that for people who had a real need for something, like grocery store gift cards for single mommies, real doctor bills, paying utilities of people about to have them shut off, rent for homeless families, etc.
Iraq:
The same show, Nightline, also had a story of two Iraqi men who risked their lives daily to get stories for our American news reporters. The story was about how we never saw them, didn't know their names, but should. And the reason we know of them now? They were kidnapped and murdered on their way home from the ABC bureau. Story HERE. The story made me want to cry. Remember when the news tried to play off the positives over there, the short period when they were doing stories on how women were now able to do things they never did before, etc? Those days are long gone.
I wonder if Bush ever watches even one of these stories or the ones about our soldiers coming home to bad care, to find they've lost custody of their kids? Generals are now coming forward saying he did NOT listen to the generals on the ground. Yet he's always talking about how he's listening to his generals and they want this. They don't. If I were Bush, I'd not be able to live with myself. Or maybe I would be, after all if I were him I really WOULD be delusional. 9 Months until the Cali primaries. I cannot wait even though I still don't know who I will vote for.

So I haven't made a real entry in days, not one to cross post to LJ anyway. Answering the occasional VOX QOTD, but not cross posting those. Mostly because, as I suspected, body is still recovering from Disney, Disney, sick before that. And now that it's May aka quite close to Cali's hot season, I no longer need heater, had AC on for a bit today, and am more tingly / nerve pain / etc. So my body and brain aren't at their best. I've been playing IJ, skimming favoriet journals, and that's about it online. If you feel neglected by me, you are, sorry. I'll attempt to be better about it soon, no promises. I'm behind on email too, if I owe you one (Pete, Aisha, Lee, etc... mostly people who probably don't read here) you'll get one soonish I hope.
Brian came out ahead on his taxes this year so he helped my mom out some, bought himself a new monitor, then wanted to donate to charity. He asked me if I had one I'd want him to donate to. Therefore, NORD got money today :)
This concludes our posting day.

Christmas Donations:
Toy donation problem solved! Thanks to Flyingwolf on LJ, Brian will be donating to http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ !!! Sick kids stuck in the hospital for Christmas surely will appreciate those video games plenty. Being sick sucks. Being so sick you're in the hospital at a young age during the holidays? Well that's just beyond sucky so YaY to giving something to those kids. I suggest you all do the same, donate to some charity this Christmas. If you're a gamer at all, the above is the way to go I think, since it was started to disprove the whole video games make people violent assholes stereotypes. They have certain hospitals they work with but are in more than one country.
KeeKee:
Now on to a more personal kid and Christmas issue... My lovely nephew KeeKee... Even though he still gets an attitude when he's alone with his mommy too much, overall he's a good kid and mom tells me he's doing so well in his first year of school that the teacher has to give him EXTRA work so he doesn't get bored because he isn't getting stuck where other kids are. I always knew he was smart but this amazes me as his mom spent no time trying to prepare him for school. Excelling despite having a mom that didn't really try to teach him anything = I want to get him something special as a reward, something beyond the normal toy, something that will keep making him feel accomplished.
His only consistent love since day one of his life has been cars but that seems a little mindless and overdone as THEE gift to give Keegan. Mom suggested blocks because he liked building stuff with them, but she could easily afford and sneak into the house a tub of generic legos or other building blocks.
I told mom I was considering an inexpensive kids guitar. Mom said she'd considered that too so I think I am on the right track. I think I found one on Amazon. I found $100 ones, too much $$ if he doesn't like it. I found $20 ones, YaY cheap but a lot of people say it's more toy than guitar and he's had toy instruments, I want to see if he really wants to play or not. I think a $40 one I found might be the answer.
My Day:
As for me... Brian's car prob is solved. It was the battery, they tested it and it's definite that was all it was, so he had a new one installed today and we went grocery shopping but have to go shopping again Tuesday for his Thanksgiving pizza. In the TMI Department, when your period makes your MS way worse you shouldn't make jokes about how "oh look it's a holiday week and I think my period is due next week, so it will come early to ruin the holiday". Apparently that is the one time my body actually LISTENS to me. Needless to say today was a VERY lazy and sore day, about all I did (besides grocery shopping and looking for Keegan present ideas) was find out that one of my IJ friends dyed his hair pink today not knowing I did mine yesterday. Tomorrow must be crafty.
