I'm such a Dutchie wannabe that even the graffiti on the shopping cart waiting for us at Vons knew it!  Yeah, I know, Von Dutch, but they didn't put it after Vons or cross off the s on Vons so... heh.  I must admit the other graffiti looks a bit different in the picture taken out in the sunlight than it did when we really tried to read it and paid attention to it in the store.  In the store it looked pretty clear and to me looked like 25 ick.  Brian thought it was 2Sick and that the fact the S was a 5 was a "stylistic choice".  Great, l33t graffiti.

Hrmph clearly I'm not improving enough, heh.  Though if I had added my other guess for leest I'd have been closer, I wasn't sure if it meant last or something to do with seeing/reading.  I wanted to say lezen or is it leezen.... lezen looks right, too lazy to look it up is to read or to see or something like that, only seen it once I think so with memory well pffft -- anyway because of that I figured leest might be related but wasn't SURE and wasn't gonna look anything up.   But even though the context seemed right, meh, thought leest was last for some reason too.  Eh oh well, I got "Je taalgebruik is goed" close enough, I'll be happy with that for now.  The first line was "Beste" and his name... should have translated THAt and told him I wanted credited for it ;)

Politics:
Hmm Insomnia posted yet another interesting post, I'll just let you read his post here instead of ranting about it myself as he rants far better than I do ;)   But basically, it seems that voters in predominately black areas of NC received calls explaining they only needed to sign and return their voter packets -- WITHOUT VOTING, to be eligible to vote.  In other words a. they clearly think these people are stupid and b. this woman's organization targeted mostly black voters trying to suppress their votes.  I'm a news junkie and haven't seen it on mainstream national news yet so, errm... wtf?

In other political news, mom once wanted to nearly disown me because I liked the Clintons.   That was before Hillary ran in this election.  Hillary has now convinced me that she's a closeted Republican so I no longer support her and with Edwards gone I support Obama.  My sister has taken up my to be disowned spot by announcing she'll be voting for Hillary in the Oregon Primary, heh.

Dutch:
I have picked up my Dutch books only to, as predicted, read the first few chapters, again!  BUT, I also have Pimsleur beginner Dutch CDs and have listened to lessons 1-6 (of 10 lessons I think) during the last few days.  So far, since it is beginner stuff, it's a lot of hello, how are you types of things.  Which is good, I know to spell those things I'm hearing.  Lesson 6 has moved onto the would you like something to drink types of things.  Eeek.  I always said the Dutch letter g scared me, and it does.  But hearing the word "graag"  eeek.  *hides*  I know it's nowhere near the worst, but it's the first gr word and multiple letters g word I've heard.  Oh man if I tried to say that in front of a Dutchie they'd be laughing for a year.  Guess I have to go back to being an American now.

Health:
So I slept on and off from 4 am until 4pm yesterday.  We've been having record high temps for this time of year.  It's finally supposed to drop down now... to record lows possibly.  Ugh.  My body doesn't like when the weather jumps all over the place.  Especially not when record highs start early in the year.  Brain aliens in full effect.  Pain alien been around.  Exhaustion alien.  MS IS NOT HAPPY.  MOTHER NATURE MAKE UP YOUR MIND ABOUT THE WEATHER!  In fact if I get extra ranty or mess up lots of words, yeah, brain aliens around, sorry.

Thanks to Krizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (one of these days I'll give him enough Zs --- sorry I can't type a word with multiple Zs without going overboard), pointing out to me that I need to learn the fine art of Dinglish, and suggesting a must read book to me, I've now in fact ordered the book "I Always Get My Sin".  It appears that one person in the US was selling this book imported from the UK and with that much stock available, I decided to just order it.

The US is really bad about imports.  Everyone gets our books, our movies, our tv shows, our movies.  We get BBC America and a few anime stores and umm hmm I think that's about it.  Though our On Demand tv does seem to have an "International" section, which includes "ImaginAsian Tv" "LA 18 on Demand" and "Movies".   I don't count the Spanish language channels as international / imports since I've driven by their offices in my city so yeah...

Anyway,  I don't think you need to understand the Dutch to see why this is funny and this is exactly why even if I learn lots of Dutch someday I'd be afraid to SPEAK it especially to strangers, if I type just safe / basic phrases to Mijn Favoriet that I am sure are right I can't possibly do something like... this:

Ik spreek Engels!  Someday I'll move past I'm a beginner Dutch for complete idiots, really!  Ugh.  Why do I get so distracted? I could easily find 1/2 hour a day to read some of my books or listen to my vocabulary CDs but I don't and then I get inspired to, and I start at the beginning again, and never get past the basics.  Ugh.   Can someone just implant the full Dutch language into my brain thereby completing my wannabe status and saving me all of these years of beating myself up? Thanks....  err dank je!  I really do want to learn.  My brain just can't seem to stay focused and I can't seem to figure out how to remember anything but basics no matter how many different things I try.  Can I blame the MS? :P  Surely it's not because I'm slacking for hmm how long have I known Mijn Favoriet now... Eeek...

Ahh well sleepy time!  I will erm read one chapter tomorrow!  Hold me to this... Probably a chapter I've ready 979202707 times before.  *sigh*  

Maybe this post will inspire me, when I occasionally publicly post beating myself up, I remember to read and make real attempts for awhile.

Right, sleepy time... Ik ben moe!  There I used up most of my memorized Dutch!  Ok, maybe not most... but a good percentage of it! *yawn*

"Joekel" can sometimes have a sexual connotation. The singular "joekel" would be the male sexual organ, whereas the plural "joekels" would refer to a woman's sizable breasts.

By the way, a Burgerking "Whopper" is not a "Joekel", but just a "Whopper":-)

You Tube Awards.  There's the usual you'd expect like Chris Crocker  crying over Britney (which I found amusing the first 1-3 times I saw it but ugh now, the best YouTube has to offer, really?) and some that  I at least had never seen.  It lead to me subscribe to this guy, w00t art tuturial and speed painting videos.  I really should subscribe to good people and watch more often, because right now I have *checks* 9 that I subscribe to and can probably delete several of them.  Hmm someday I'll have a YouTube watchfest and find all of the good stuff to subscribe to, then the real trick.... remember to check in and watch more than every few weeks/months.

I am way behind on email, comments, still have a show to watch thanks to Anne... and have had exactly(ish) 7 hours in two days.  So now I am gonna sleep.  Brian got the weekend off so get to go mail mom a surprise today and then CHOP CHOP!  It's that time of year, hair is going bye bye, then I'll let it grow again until hmm about this time next year when it all gets CHOPPED again.  It's just below shoulder length and I'm thinking quite short this time.

Ohh I got a present today!  Brian's coworker drew a very good Batman and told Brian I could have it, so I do have it.  And I've never even met who drew it so Brian must have told him how I <3 Superman and am starting to want to read Batman (I own exactly one Batman comic so far).

Adventures in Dutch:
Krizzzzzzz (I think I change how many zzzzzzzzzzs he gets each time I type that, heh) sent me the first holiday card I received this year and it was DUTCH!  I didn't know enough Dutch to know a key punchline word (clearly I did know it was a humorous card) but I did figure out most of it without cheating ;)   Looking at the word I had guessed cat but figured that might not make sense, so I asked a Dutchie.  I showed him the full sentence, gave him my translation minus that word, and asked him what it was.  He said hangover.   Later when Mijn Favoriet woke up I told him I learned a word for hangover, he asked me what, I told him, he ha ha'd and told me that means tomcat.  Then I told him the sentence, and he told me indeed or a hangover. heh.  Ahh the joys of being a wannabe Dutchie!  They always confuse me!

Winter is here:
My holiday cards arrived today though I might not be able to mail them next weekend as Brian might have to work.  IF he works next weekend,  we won't be doing our holiday mailing until the 15th.  You know what that means?  That means that the two cards I am sending to Dutchieland will likely arrive on time, the one to the UK will also likely  arrive on time, and the rest probably won't as mail within the states SUCKS.  Luckily since I'm not sending many this year, I won't feel too bad.

I realize mom's had snow already so I can't whine as we don't exactly get snow.  But we did have rain (which we needed so that was good).  But it's dropped about 15 degrees in one day.  Which for those of you in snowland would still be toasty, but for So Cal is brrrrrrr.  We could see our breath when we went shopping tonight so I call that cold.  My body isn't happy.  Sudden weather changes make my body grrr.
