May offend some of you, if you're sensitive about religion, don't click. But now you know why I am how I am. My mommy person sent this to me. Now you know how I ended up this way, how many moms send this to their children? ;)
My own mommy person shamed me by asked me how I missed posting this... yes I am a bit late, but here you go. From their description:
A french video response from http://www.GayClic.com readers to the Stevie Bee Bishop's "Big Fat Gay Collab". Posted on the International Day Against Homophobia, 2009, May 17th
Congrats to NH for understanding the difference between church and state marriages.
They're now the 6th state to understand this. I thought California would be one of the first and we were for awhile anyway. We'll be there again... someday. My Dutchies understood this ages ago. They're wise, my Dutchies.
The courts upheld 8 but also said it's not retroactive.
My uncle's marriage remains legal.
Well then we've not the heard the last of this I'm sure.
The yes side will say BUT you can't let those existing marriages stay legal if California doesn't recognize gay marriage. The no side will say that means we're discriminating since we have legal gay marriages but now no longer let gays marry.
I'd still like it explained to me in plain English how it's legally allowed for a state to ban consenting adults from marrying. Does no one in this country understand the different between a legal marriage and a church marriage? As long as we can legally discriminate, can I legally ban fucking morons who don't understand such basic concepts? Can I outlaw them from living in California? That would have saved us a lot of problems.
I'm sick. Brian had a bit of a sore throat awhile back and has been coughing for weeks. Welp now I got it. But I'm mostly just tired, achy muscles, had chills yesterday but those seem to be gone. Guess we shouldn't have joked that he probably had swine flu. He's been "diagnosed" by about 15 people at work ;) I missed most of Monday and Wednesday sleeping it off.
Apparently while I was sleeping a congresswoman Foxx (R. - N. Carolina) called the fact that Matthew Shepard was targeted for being gay a "hoax". Umm. It was proven in court he was targeted and killed for being gay. To call it a "hoax" and nothing more than a robbery gone wrong, with his mom there watching you spew that crap, when the facts prove otherwise? Dumb heartless bitch. Stop getting your "facts" from anti-gay hate websites or whatever and try looking at the actual facts.
I love that it's a "Rainbow coalition" did they not get the memo about rainbows and the gay community? Idiots. How ironic. Maybe they should use a rainbow logo ;)
So Iowa legalized gay marriage. And of course there's this: Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) blasted the decision and vowed to effectively overturn it. "This is an unconstitutional ruling and another example of activist judges molding the Constitution to achieve their personal political ends," he said in a statement.
Let us break down this whole active judge crap, shall we? I'm fond of dictionary.com
Activist
–noun
| 1. | an especially active, vigorous advocate of a cause, esp. a political cause. |
Judge
–noun
| 1. | a public officer authorized to hear and decide cases in a court of law; a magistrate charged with the administration of justice. |
I've not read the full ruling, but the parts I've seen basically said the court has a constitutional duty to ensure that laws are upheld equally for all and that, that includes their marriage statutes. Well they're vigorously advocating for the legal system to work. That is activist judges, I suppose. And that's a bad thing? Is that not what judges do?
Someday, the idiots of the world will understand that these marriage licenses ARE government issued and therefore apply to consenting adults gay or straight. They're not church marriages. If certain churches want to spew hate against gays and deny the marriages in their church, whatever, they won't want to marry there I'm sure -- who wants to marry in a place they'd not feel welcomed or safe? But the state cannot go around calling people sinners and telling them sorry no marriage and no legal rights that go with it for you.
I still say just tell everyone civil unions for ALL. But then again, it's almost more fun to keep it as marriages and watch the hateful people cry as they slowly, state by state start to lose in the courts. I just hope California's courts are watching. Our ruling on 8 is due soon, I think. The irony? The Iowa court apparently cited the original California ruling. And now some are saying this ruling COULD affect the current ruling here IF any judges were still undecided. Ohh how odd the courts can be.
Hair Adventure time:
The trick here? I have NO idea what it'll do in my hair ;) I'm up for an adventure of course. After all I've been dying my hair Vampire Red, and Pink'ish reds, and Napalm Orange, and before that Purple for years now. What is the worst that can happen? heh. But truly, I've no clue what'll happen. My roots should turn out close to that colour. The orange'y blonde'y formerly blonde then dyed red and orange and red and orange and now faded? Welp, we shall see later this week.
Milk:
I finally bought and watched Milk on dvd. Wow. I'm so glad I finally got to see that movie. How did I not hear of this man before this movie? Granted he's a bit before my time since I was a wee kiddie even as he died and he was in a different part of the state than I was in, but still. Just... I gotta admit, I got teary eyed at the end, even knowing what happened, hell the beginning of the movie tells you that. I was just touched anyway, I'm a sap. The movie kind of upset me, well not the movie, but what it reminds me of -- that here we are, all of these years later and the jerkoffs are STILL trying to legislate consensual adult sex and sexuality. What a loss, if only he were still around fighting things like Prop 8.
So when talking to mom last night, we decided we've solved the gay marriage issue. NO state marriages can be called marriage any longer, straight or gay. Marriage will be owned by churches period. If you want a marriage that's between you and your church. If you want the legal one, it'll be called a civil union no matter if you're straight or gay, period. The one that gets you the tax breaks, makes you legal next of kin, hospital visitation rights etc, that will be a civil union. No exceptions. If you want both, fine but the state won't recognize the church marriage, the license you get from the state will be a civil union one. Of course the pissy people will just complain anyway, nope can't have the same thing as gays. We have to be special us straight people, no matter what you call it, we can't have the same marriage or civil union, or whatever it is called as THOSE PEOPLE. But it'd solve everything since most people pretend to be non-homophobes *eye roll* So hey if if it's JUST a marriage thing and traditional marriages? Well I'm against those because if we're going to go "traditional" old school Biblical marriages, sorry there's a lot of malecentirc crap in most religions / religious texts that just aren't cool. So "traditional" marriages won't work. Civil unions only it is.
And semi on that note, I couldn't help but LOL a bit tonight. No True Blood for quite awhile, don't get the 8th Sookie book until Christmas then book 9 isn't out until March or is it May... but I did find this video and well gotta say, you could so replace the vamps in True Blood with gays easily... The whole God Hates Fangs, the Fellowship of the Sun trying to be sure they don't get rights, etc. Ahh so obvious and true... Poor vamps, this series is so how we'd treat them if it weren't a piece of fiction, because we're horrible when it comes to anyone / anything different... In fact, my own nephew cursed me tonight, lol. I sent his mommy a video from Elf Yourself of him, myself, and Karina. He was mad at me because I'd turned him into an elf, even though he found it cute last year. Guess he's got an image to uphold this year, being an elf is no longer socially acceptable, even if only his mom and grandma saw. I forgot, 7 is all grown up ;)
Jerry Brown is now on our side! He's decided Prop 8 should be invalidated by the court after all. Finally someone who is of the legal persuasion who is thinking like the law instead of like the religious types. Sorry, I don't care what your church says. If the state is in the business of marrying people and of recognizing marriages that's a whole different ball game. The state is a legal institution not a religious one and they play by different rules. They can't discriminate. So long as someone is an adult and able to legally able to consent to a contract they can marry.
And now the yes on 8 folk want to make 8 retro active, which is NOT how they wrote the bill. Well FUCK OFF. If you wanted it to be retro, you should have written it that way. You did NOT. Now I'm pissed all over again. My uncle was legally married, is legally married, your deceptive ads about 8 got it passed -- about how Obama supported 8 when he did not, about how churches lose their tax exempt status if it didn't pass which they would not, about how schools have to teach gay marriage if did not pass and you couldn't opt your kids out which was a lie, blah blah blah blah. Gay marriages were already happening, none of that was happening, nor relevant to what 8 was. 8 wasn't about any of that and it wasn't retro active. I read the damn bill. And now you want to take away all of those legal marriages of people, who did what they were told and waited, in some cases, for DECADES to get them legally. Because your religion says so? Well theirs doesn't. And the state married them not your church... so just FUCK OFF. So pissed off.
This whole I'm a good loving Christian, it's not for me to judge anyone thing is crap. Tolerant? Bullshit. You're not even tolerant of the law of the land or other people's views or religions. So you attempt to change the constitution in ways it never should be allowed to be changed, using deception that is anything but Christian like to be sure you get it. And I'd call comparing their marriages to pedophilia judgmental, those of us who have been victims of sex crimes and who actually love some of those gay people you're bashing (while saying no no, I'm not homophobic) take great offense that you'd essentially make light of sex offenses in such a way.
Sorry but gays are born gay and if you believe in God and that he/she loves all of his/her children, you totally fail in honoring him / her if you decide they're somehow less than you just because they're gay and you're not. I don't understand how people are so quick to believe a Bible that everyone knows no God wrote him/her self, but can't stop to think that perhaps he or she could test them to see how they treat all of his/her children. And it would seem if we're being tested by such a God, a lot of us are failing.
Still, thank you Jerry Brown, I know you're putting your job on the line with this sudden change of heart. And weren't the yes on 8 people all over my damn tv saying they wouldn't go after the existing marriages after 8 passed? Yeah, more lies, imagine that. Isn't lying one of their sins?
