For those of you who know anything about me, you'll know this, I love James Dean... I have since I discovered a book about him when I was 15 or so and then Rebel, EOE, and Giant. So for me to say this, I have to be impressed no? Heath Ledger, who I'd not seen act before The Dark Knight, was a brilliant friggin actor. I don't think many actors are brilliant. I think there are plenty of good, maybe even great actors out there. But this man was definitely NOT overhyped in this movie. OMFG. The term method acting comes to mind. I saw no sign of an actor, or a man, in his performance. What a shame this was it for him.
James Dean was the first to get a posthumous Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, he didn't get it (should have) and only what two I think have ever? I think we may add Heath Ledger to the list.
I don't get why people say he's only getting Oscar talk because he's dead... seriously, do they not know what acting is? I saw nothing but a psycho Joker on the screen, not an actor. THAT is acting.
Christian Bale was good as Batman of course, but overshadowed by Ledger and Aaron Eckhart in this one I'd say.
I'll own it on DVD for sure. #1 movie of year for me, it didn't let me down. Though I did have to get up and take a quick bathroom break to get my head together after club scene quick. The strobe light stuff really screws with me head + had the phantom smell thing for a minute + when leaving bathroom some chick pulled me aside to ask me something that was bothering her... She had to know who she looked like. Seems people always tell her she looks like Sarah Jessica Parker and she just wants to look like herself. Oddly enough I couldn't guess who she looks like until she told me, then I guessed I could kind of see it, she had similar bone structure but... yeah...
Anyway I'm tired but was worth it... I may need to get more Batman books since I'm out of good Superman ones. I think I'm becoming a Superman AND Batman fangirl now, eek!
Terminator 3D was semi broken as the part where the motorcycle rides into the screen didn't work. Killed some of the effect of the show but that's ok.
Waterworld is an awesome live show though I hear the movie sucks (never saw it).
Backlot tour is always the best part, missed seeing the Desperate Housewives houses this time as they were filming! Also were filming a movie, not sure which one and it was all blocked off by a fence so couldn't see what they were filming other than Brian thought he saw a bridge and there was a big blue screen thing.
Went to to lower part. Erm ok... We don't usually go down there and probably won't again. This part suck as it's pretty much at the bottom of a friggin mountain and you can't use the elevator unless you have a wheelchair... but it's down 4-5 escalators. Most the length of about 3-4 normal sized escalators. This began to be an issue for me. My equilibrium gets REALLY fucked up on escalators. Okay I'm not in a wheelchair but I do have a medical condition, assholes :P Oddly enough, it ended up being even worse for Brian... Because he's got a fear of heights and you're well on a MOUNTAIN on an open aired escalator seeing skyscrapers and mountains in the distance below you. I really thought he was going to throw up.
I got a small James Dean tin (like to hold credit cards sized), James Dean keychain, and a bracelet that looks like handcuffs (must find one in silver someday, cheap metals irritate my skin bad but it was too cute to resist).
Need sleep. Queen Mary is only open 10-5 or something tomorrow I think. So *yawn* already wiped out and another busy day tomorrow. I think Brian's dad is enjoying it at least, even though he's sick.
