I noticed my VOX gets a lot more hits than my LJ from countries I've never even heard of, some seem to be repeat visitors.  Interesting.  Hello random strangers who read my rants for who knows what reasons on whichever site you read me on, I'm flattered.   I can only assume that the people who read me on LJ mostly do so on Friends pages,  because even there I end up with random comments from strangers where as on VOX only registered users can comment.  On LJ anyone can comment (though non friends get screened).

The only real news story today (Thursday, I've not slept yet, yes it's now Friday) that got covered was the beers at the white house.  And really, who cares?  I don't like beer, I certainly don't want to talk about it.  Maybe if they were having mudslides or rum and coke, I'd be interested.  Some guys who really didn't want to have beer together had beer together.  w00t!   

I did a load of laundry.  That was more exciting than the "beer summit".  So was Shatner reading Palin tweets, does that fall within the fair use laws?  I think he's pushing it.  Mijn Favoriet and I discussed that.  He's a law student, granted in Dutchieland but he likes reading up on our laws too.  We agreed, Shatner is pushing it.  It's technically "satire".  But he is also reading her whole tweets word for word.  But he's reading a few tweets out of many.   She could probably get pissy about that if he keeps it up, but she'd be stupid to. 

Oh there is one other story.  That cash for clunkers program is out of money but will continue through the weekend.  They'd expected it to go through what November I think?  This was it's first week I think?  So many people went out and traded in their old cars that it's already out of money.  So the government boosted car sales for one week.  Got a bunch of older cars with bad gas mileage off the road and got people into cars with better gas mileage.  Win win win.  See the government can sometimes do something right.  Wonder if people can pay for those cars.

But, here we go, let the real fun begin.  We Hollywood types will be watching, you know when we're not taking turns running off to Alaska to steal their guns.  *eye roll*   Reason #1 she'll never be president: she can't stop talking shit about those of us aren't her fanatical base.  She can't win with her fanatical base alone.  She apparently either doesn't know this or thinks we'll forget that she KEEPS doing it?  Either way, dumb.  I won't forget.  I've lost count of the Hollywood / California, etc etc comments, but there's been enough of them that I'm so beyond insulted that even if she could convince me that her crazy far right religious George Bush like politics wouldn't be an issue for me, I'd NEVER vote for her.  I don't appreciate being insulted by someone too stupid to even answer simple questions like "what do you read?".

I really like the part in her speech about how the press lies and how in honor of the troops they should stop.  I bet she means the ones who keep saying Obama's birth certificate isn't real... ohh wait, those are the same ones who support her, so probably not those ones...

I was telling Mijn Favoriet about how old school comics were soooo full of propaganda that it wasn't even funny.  Stuff we'd never really let the get away with today.  So then I introduced him to SuperDickery...  He found some winners there, but that whole site is pretty much win or fail depending on how you look at it.

Now how about you illegally asking a Russian official to donate $5k  to your campaign?   Or how about hiring someone accused of voter registration fraud?  HYPOCRITES....  Ohh or how about announcing yeah McCain said he won't use Wright but now we might because of Lewis?  As if Palin's visiting witch hunting pastor she praised isn't a psycho?  Ohh and your robocalls are scaring kids, good job!  Our campaign isn't negative, my ass.

Man this closing ceremony is sooo pretty...

Mijn Favoriet -- He's back!!!  Did I mention he was away on vacation with his gf the past week?  I was sad!  Especially since Bender went away part of that time too, I swear they plotted to go away at the same time, my little online family  was quiet, T hasn't been around, other Dutchies were fairly quiet those days.  Sad sad, I peeked on irc but no one was talking so my idle time was over a day.  

Anyway the olympics -- Mijn Favoriet sees it live.  So he kind of spoils the Olympics for me!  heh.  He had told me during the Opening Ceremonies the world was being blown up during the fireworks for example ;)  And during the closing ceremonies he was asking me "Is that Jackie Chan?"  How would I know, I was a good 11-12 hours away from seeing it?  I keep asking them to stop living in the friggin future.  They of course tell me to stop living in the past.  The thing is, I win.  I live in Hollywood time, Hollywood would NEVER lie to us ;)  So my time is the correct time heh.  Apparently as he was watching it took awhile for them to say hey it's Jackie Chan.  Not here man.  The announcers here right away were all over that.  And how could you NOT know right away that was him?  Heh.  <3 Jackie Chan. 

I love that tower of people.  The showmanship on that sort of reminded me of some gigantic Cirque show.  Except it made a Cirque show look like kiddie play WOW!
 

Eclipse - I only got through 169 pages so far today, I'll finish this chapter and go to bed.  I've no doubt I could have finished it today as I finished the first two books in a day each, but I realized I need distractions at the moment, so I've slowed down.  I skimmed around the net tonight... I tried and failed to make art.  I tried and failed to watched some of the Olympics (did see bits and pieces, like the swimming race we won after the French did a lot of trash talking about how they'd kick our asses, etc).  I wondered if I am the only one who feels really bad for the athletes who clearly come from countries where they  put so much empahsis on them having to be perfect that when they aren't it looks like they've comitted the biggest sin --  their faces, like the weight of the world is crushing down on them.  I mean I know they all want to win, but some just seem to have MORE pressure than others. 

Anyway, It's kind of like I have ADD right now, a little of this, distracted, a little of that, distracted.  What was I doing.  Oh yes.  Back to this... Oh this sounds better... Distracted! Etc.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  It's actually kind of nice.  It feels like a calm kind of boredom.  Which sounds bad when I put it that way, but it's not.  I just don't know how to explain it I guess.  I'm too tired to try now.   Misi called tonight, that was cool.  And hey, I'm <23'd! ;)
