The Muppets rule. Queen rules. Combine the two? You cannot go wrong.
My mom sent me this link. Interesting. I hope they keep on testing that theory. Not getting my hopes up. So many MS theories. But that one is interesting anyway.
In my last post I stated that I didn't get the big whoop over Adam Lambert's AMA performance. The song, in my opinion, isn't his best. It may grow on me now. Or at least the performance itself will. Anything that leads to thousands of complaints from uptight fools = brilliant. Teeny bopper pop groups do just as bad or worse on stage. And no one complains about that crap. Because it's cute little kids doing it and not a glammed out gay guy. So, go Adam. It's okay for trashy little boys and girls to do their thing on stage. But god forbid a gay man do it. He may corrupt our nation's youth. Geezus people, he wasn't naked and screwing people on stage. Kissing and groping while far more clothed than when those kiddie bands do similar performances. Whatever. Waaaah. This story compares it to Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction". Seriously. No nudity. And it aired umm when? When Desperate Housewives usually airs I think? Later? Oh, and they edited it here on the west coast. No wonder why I didn't get it. I missed the man on man lovin'. I guess my poor virgin eyes couldn't handle a kiss -- but could handle simulated sex acts. I'm glad the sensors had their priorities straight ;) If you have seen it, the performance in question is here. Still think that song was a total failure at showing how awesome he is vocally, but I <3 him more now than I did before.
Books:
I finished Fire (Graceling). It's billed as the prequel to Graceling
. Um, can we say a book is a spinoff the way a tv show is? If so then yes this a prequel time wise. But Graceling would be a spinoff. Without giving spoilers, Gracelings have almost nothing to do with this book, they make an appearance. This book is more about monsters. Graceling was a woman basically being thee strongest person alive and struggling with it. Fire -- a good book, but our heroine, while strong, her struggle is that she's a beautiful monster. And she hates being what she is. Still a good book. Just a bit more whiny than the first book. The characters in Graceling were more likable/developed than in Fire. Graceling was 5/5 but Fire is 4/5.
Now onto Tempest Rising (Jane True), I think.
NaNoWriMo:
Rushing this weekend, tons of filler story crap. I know. Bad me. I just wanna finish SOMETHING. To restart it. Properly. My new ideas for this are much better and require total re-write start to finish. Sooo write crappy fluff, but still writing actual words = get it done. The start over. I won't cheat, but I will write TOTAL rushed crap that will never see the light of day. I think I will finish tonight. And then restart. Bit by bit. Around reading and making presents. Slowly. Properly. When the mood hits only. But I will have completed it! HA!
Music:
Wtf is up with Adam Lambert? Okay so he put on a "hot" performance at the AMAs. But musically, I saw him do better on American Idol. That song kinda sucked.
Movies:
Watched Star Trek. Brian asked what I thought, since I don't know jack about Star Trek, don't care much about sci-fi, space stuff, except maybe Red Dwarf. He mostly asked if it was better than Terminator Salvation
, the last Brian movie we watched. Yes it was better than that. Because Star Trek had character development. It was fun in that respect. Terminator Salvation didn't seem to care about the characters at all.
Got our invite to see Avatar.
http://playingforchange.com - From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music", comes the first of many "songs around the world" being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it traveled the globe.
Oh it should be a great news day for junkies like me, Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I can't wait to see the reaction from his, erm, *cough* "fans" on the far right. I think he's failing in many ways, but I do agree with the premise of the award -- "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future"
Also, as I said on Twitter, bombing the moon seems wrong to me. BOMBING the friggin moon. It's not ours. We bomb everything else though I guess, why not the moon. My mom wanted to know if they'd found weapons of mass destruction there. No no, we destroy everything here, might as go looking for water there to get an early start on it.
Also as I said on Twitter, I love Anouk even more today. She uploaded her whole album on her YouTube channel. I tried to support her by running off to buy it. However, I don't love her enough because as usual Americans get screwed when trying to import anything. My foreign friends who get our stuff easily, consider yourselves lucky. If we want your stuff -- not so easy. Her latest album isn't available in mp3 format on Amazon so to get the cd = $46. Pass. I'm not paying that much for one cd. Off to iTunes, it's available on iTunes. But if you're American, you can't order it since it's not in the American store. Oh well, it'll show up there sooner or later, hers always do. Usually a year or so after they do in the Europe store I think. Until then she friggin uploaded the WHOLE cd for free on YouTube. Big American artists would never and she is big in the Netherlands. In fact, while not big here, she is a little known here, so w00t! And yet I'd still pay for her. So take that record companies. In fact I want to pay for her more now. She makes music that I love. I hardly love any artists. Her, Tom Petty, Conor Oberst. Those are really the only three I listen to ALL of their stuff. Everyone else is hit and miss. The reason I'm not running out buying everything is because everything sucks. Except Anouk -- who uploads her album for free and then I can't even go buy it unless I want to spend $46 instead of waiting for the US release.
And I thought no one could top a Lady Gaga performance of a Lady Gaga song....
The user has disabled embedding, but surely you'll thank me *smirk*
Don't say I didn't warn you.
No, really.
More shocking than her VMA performance of Paparazzi? Yes.
I promise. It's here.
Of course, it's really only shocking to your ears perhaps. But I'll give dude credit, he's pumping out videos like mad with horrible comments and he doesn't care he just keeps going. Good for him. Long as he's happy, more power to him. My ears on the other hand... shocked.
RIP Jim Carroll :(
Time to break out his books. I only have The Basketball Diaries, Forced Entries: The Downtown Diaries: 1971-1973
, Forced Entries: The Downtown Diaries: 1971-1973
, and Void of Course
but my copy of Void of Course says not for sale on the outside on the inside says it's an unrevised and unpublished proof, etc. I love this copy for some reason, I'm guessing it's a bit rarer than the published copies. I've had several Jim Carroll things on my Amazon wish list for years and just never gotten around to getting them. He rocked :(
This is one of the songs that helped me through CynDee's death.
Lookie a break from my rants. Yay, she's got a new album soon. Happy me! Somewhere I have the concert DVDs of her that one of my Dutchie friends sent me, I should break those out someday.
Not safe for kids or work. Enjoy some superhero music err comedy err both. Just because I don't feel like ranting today. The shot has left me really tired + I think I scratched my eye, no clue how. It's a bad day useless day, so I'm going through my music and sorting it properly, etc. I forget who told me about this gem, Amy maybe? It's going in my hero themed folder, heh. Admit it, you'd all be butt sex man or perhaps fuck you dude.
He's only a year older than Keegan! When asked what he'd do if he won the million he said he'd have his mom quit her job so he could spend more time with her and after they complimented him and told him he was going to Vegas he had tears in his eyes. Too sweet.
