Ok not all ranted out, I have one rant, not really political so much as human. I suppose it could be turned political, but it's not. And I'm saving it for when I have the energy to do it right, probably during the week.
So here's a rant for you.... ^%&*@ spammers. No, not e-mail that's actually seemed to mellow over the years. BUT the gallery on my website, I'd left comments on, for sentimental reasons really. It had a comment on it from CynDee from years ago... turning them off hid that. But I also had captcha installed with its high settings turned on. Well all was fine, never really saw spam, maybe a few dedicated idiots over the years got around captcha rarely. Then Thursday I started getting automated messages from my host about how my DB was nearing its limits, if it gets full it can break my site, blah blah blah. Every hour on the hour. WTF? That's when I notice.. 10s of thousands of spam comments posted Wednesday and Thursday and they're still being posting (I had email off, didn't really use comments as I post pics on art blog from there mostly). Anyway, it wasn't little comment spam, it was paragraphs of spam comments with dozens of links to porn sites and other spammy sites in each one. HOLY. And from what I remember of Gallery 1 vs Gallery 2, less of a way to manage comments. 1 by 1 comment deletion on the page it was made then it takes you away from that page so you have to go back to that page. No clue how they got around captcha settings. I turned comments off soon as I saw it. And decided screw it. Gallery was a bit too much anyway just to post some pics when Brian was probably right, could use Picasa for same thing with no headaches. So I gave up on being sentimental and wiped gallery from my host and spent Thursday and Friday uploading stuff to Picasa.
But I must say Google... WTF? Picasa is the most un-userfriendly software and gallery. I didn't even bother with the software. Hi I want to scan either your whole computer or your doc folder for images... Period. What kind of set up is that? I don't even use my doc folder and don't want every picture on all of my drives especially since one drive is a back up drive...
I was too MS'y and pissed off about my Gallery to deal with that crap. So I did it through the web site. I have a LOT of pics. Some still hidden, unorganized, and some I missed I'm sure but the main family, art ones, etc are at least safely backed up there online now. And I'm in pain uploading them one by one. But I really, really, really don't like Picasa's software. I don't think it's just me, when I complained Brian agreed, he said when you set it up you have to tweak the settings a lot. Ugh I don't want to have to tweak a program a ton for it to be right. And someone should tell them about sub-galleries. I don't want 1 gallery for Keegan, but I don't want 10,000 galleries on the main page either. I want Keegan gallery - click it, then inside of that see say sub-galleries by year or whatever. Other than those little gripes, YaY, all set up and Gallery of spam all gone even though it meant deleting a few legit sweet comments too.
Hehe I got this today:
"your dorky nephew says you inspire him to have cool hair... shame on you"
w00t! I'd just like to point out, when he gets a little older and hits the tattoo shop, they can't blame me, they'll have to blame his mom, grandma, uncle, dad, etc too! ;) And besides, my hair is funky colours but never has it been a mohawk! Now when he asks to hit Hot Topic for some RAW hair dye, because the stuff at the drug store just won't cut it, well yeah that's on me ;)
I find it so incredibly sweet that this kid had parents dealing with what they did so early in his life, now wants to do something so *cough* geeky like "Build robots" when he grows up, is reading 2-3 grades above his grade level despite the fact he was sort of neglected before starting school, used to do things like stay up all night watching movies way above his age, etc etc AND helps kids for teachers that other kids his ages probably think aren't cool, yet still tries to "have a rep" lol by having cool clothes and hair and somehow pulls it all together so much that at his school they say the older girls even love him. Way to go. I'm so proud of him. You can be both geeky AND cool. Nice to kids that others thing aren't cool and still popular. Face a lot of tough shit that no kid should and somehow get through it without being a bitter ass. He's done it already. Hopefully now that his parent have gotten the bigger challenges out of the way he's done with the major drama for awhile anyway.
Misi, when she last called mentioned wondering what my orange hair would look like. Well this is it a few weeks ago, in good light, like right after I dyed it I think...
Why does my eye look brown? I have blue or even grey eyes. Actually I'm told they turn colours. Blue at times, grey at others, sometimes a cross between the two and even on rare rare occassions hints of green flecks, but never brown. Crappy phone. But oddly the hair colour is closer to true in this pic. Just getting a pink ball pic for my SocialVibe profile since I earned enough points for charity to get one!
Yes, me and my pink ball again...
This one could have turned out ok, but I took it in a room with no light, it's not dark in here but my phone cam gets grumpy without a lightbulb or blaring sun directly next to it.
Yeah, I haven't done bad phone cam tour of LA in ages, so today... LA's version of art cars!
Now my mommy loves art cars. And while I appreciate her love for all things art, I must admit most art cars just look like an excuse to waste paint or to glue old doll parts to cars, but this one made me go "WOW". No, we didn't stalk the guy, he was next to us on the road and going to the same shopping center as us so we snapped a few pics. Brian probably has better ones, but here you go...

Halloween:
In case you were bad and missed the Maddy chicken soup slide show... and of course, can't leave out Keegan, their Halloween pics --

My mom posted a couple of fire pics my uncle sent her on her LJ here.
So my night = I saw on tv that Get Smart was out on DVD, but I only caught part of the commercial so I wasn't clear if it was one of those special you have to order it through us things or if it was a mass market DVD release. So since Brian and I both want to see it, we figured while out getting coffee let's go by Best Buy and see if it is out. We get about a block away and Brian asks me "What's with all of those lights?" I ask him where and he points. We release as we get to the back of BB it's there. Brian announces "Wow they're really excited about the release of Get Smart". So I'm thinking they must have one of those cheesy parking lot carnivals set up. Boy was I wrong. They were setting up a huge rooftop launch party for Guitar Hero. Black carpet outside with tons of press awaiting a band arrival. Never did find out who as we were there quite awhile and saw no signs of it starting, but we did check out the roof before leaving anyway. With only a few people up there playing the games they'd set up, the roof already felt like an earthquake was hitting every time someone moved. I told Brian I didn't want to feel what it would be like when they got a band up there with people jumping around and that the roof would probably cave in. It turned out Get Smart is a Time Life release only, not available in stores. And we don't want to pay $100 for Guitar Hero. So the trip was a bust. But was cool to see them setting up the party anyway. I looked online and watched the local news, never did find out what band we missed, but I'm not even sure we were supposed to be up there anyway because when we left they closed off all parking etc.

Another long post, sorry...
My health...
Ok first the personal medical news... That is what my devoted stalkers are waiting for, no? Remember the you'll never get a definite diagnosis without a brain biopsy talk? Well for once, my body decided to cooperate. I shocked them all -- my spinal tap combined with MRI gave them enough to diagnose me after all. Yes, because of the Sarcoid it should be virtually impossible to tell if I have Neurosarcoid or MS... but between my MRI and spinal tap they now have NO doubts and I am officially diagnosed with MS. It wasn't a coin toss apparently. Even though things can overlap they all agreed, I have MS. But I also wasn't kidding about being a bleeder. When she asked me how I've been, I told her I'd been in pain all week and I figured it was because he kept getting blood during the tap. She told me yeah, that some of my spinal fluid they tested had blood in it.
I can still see her in the normal neuro clinic for the migraines and may see her in the MS clinic, but she's gonna move my primary clinic to be the MS clinic. She told me it will be better for me as it's specialized and that clinic sees more like 30 patients a day whereas the general neuro clinic sees maybe 100, but she hopes to see me again. She likes me and Brian :) She also told me how to work it out so I have less wait times... muhahah! She also warned me not to get scared because I'll see a lot more people in wheelchairs, etc because the MS clinic has a lot of people who are sicker than the normal neuro clinic. And just for my own sanity, since my tests and seem to show nothing current I asked her to confirm or deny then what my OR doctors said -- that all of these symptoms like tingles, twitching, etc are all just residuals from old damage/attacks. She said they are as nothing I have now is a current flare up or new damage.
Now...
My City...
Harbor UCLA is in Torrance. The grey there is worse. The air is unbreathable. The smell... You shouldn't be out in it. I'll be staying in the rest of the week. So sad out there... not even near the fires... just wow. Even the safe from fires part of my city has skies that look like they belong in a disaster movie. Smells no one should smell.
Ohhh and to top it off, when leaving... The entrance road to Emergency Room is blocked off by these giant orange cones -- more like boxes than cones with HAZMAT on them. And there are police in camo, holding big big big guns that Brian thinks are M-16s (the picture I just looked up = seems about right). I don't know what was going on but that was freaky.

Now, we wait to hear.
I woke up because of leg neuropathy. Fun stuff. First time it happened I was 12 or so. Doctors then didn't know wtf was causing it then. This bad enough to wake me up kind only happens every few years. Now though my pain tolerance is so much higher I just cringe a little, used to be it'd almost make me scream. Mild headache too but woke up feeling kind of dehydrated so will solve that soon. Time to go buy mom's shopping list. I told Brian not to have a heart attack when he sees it as we usually just buy frozen f00d and the occasional veggies and yogurt.

FYI - expect plenty of Keegan pics and maybe video as Brian bought me this (well for both of us though he's considering giving it to me and buying himself a higher quality cam later): Kodak EasyShare v 803. The only difference is mine is white. If I thought they had purple I'd have asked them to look, of course, but mostly I just wanted a cheap camera that would get me decent Keeeeeeegan pics and this should do not only that but maybe some video too. w00t!
Barring any major Amtrak delays, they should be here this time next weekend! w00t! Of course, I still remember Windy's train ride from hell. I should start watching Amtrak's website for trends. Tonight's train (the same one they'd be on next weekend) is already expected 2 1/2 hours late. Why does Amtrak even give the schedules they give, they tend to always be 2 - 3 hours late regularly because they don't own the tracks and the people who do always have trains that stall them at the same time every day.
