Quote of the day: "This Pokemon does exist, I thought it was a myth" heard by me and Brian while were at Power Anime.  It made both of us chuckle. 

Then we went to Hollywood.  In all of the time we've lived here, we've only gone to Hollywood once.  Mainly because there's no reason to.  But Best Buy has started to suck for DVDs etc and I was BORED today so we decided at the last minute it was a good time to just go check out Amoeba.  Hollywood has too much traffic but what a city it is.  Modern offices with these old what I can only describe as typical 50s Hollywood / California styled beautiful buildings mixed in.  Then just kind of bleh whatever buildings.  Then back to offices and 50s Hollywood kinds again.  So cool.  I love those 50s Hollywood looking buildings that have been well cared for. 

Amoeba = umm the movies are upstairs and they do have a pretty good selection of new and used, but one section of the floor feels like a constant earthquake.  I grabbed Brian, one of my MS things is sometimes the earth just kind of feels like that to me... He looked at me and said something like "Yeah their floor feels like an earthquake".  Their employee who had to let us in the elevator confirmed it's always like that.

I got Stranger Than Fiction because I want to see it again, it's not as good as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but it's one of those few movies I can watch again -- surreal, makes me think, etc. The only other movies I can think of even close to those = Click, I Heart Huckabees, and Being John Malkovich.  I really need more movies like those.  Those make ya think about life / life isn't what you think it is / what if this happened to you kind of things...

Anyway... I also got Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (because I saw it was cheap and remembered Anne mentioned it was good) and then since Sweeney Todd was way too expensive for used (if I'm gonna pay $20 for a regular non special edition DVD it will be new not used), I decided to head to classics.  See except for James Dean's movies I know hmm zero about classics really.  I know I should watch some of them.  I want to, I just never do.  But by then the floor was getting to me and we really wanted to get going as it had been a long night out so I didn't get past the Film Noir section in  front of the classics section, but I did grab Legends of Hollywood: Film Noir - The Dark Side of Hollywood ( a 5 disc set with 10 films).  I think I have enough movies to keep me busy for awhile.

Oh yeah, I thought the Scientology building in Portland was big and found it annoying because their members there used to stalk us a lot when I went to school just doors away (no really they wouldn't leave us alone)... Man oh man.  Their *cough* church or whatever in Hollywood is big er HUGE and has flashy blinking big sign outside,  then we saw another building in another part of Hollywood a few blocks away that was also huge... also Scientology signs all over it.  They're everywhere.

So MS sleep issues are still a friggin mess.  I couldn't fall asleep today, err yesterday now... whatever... until about 2 or 3 or something, I lost track.  Brian woke me up at 9:30.  Seems I missed Palin getting heckled while I slept. Brian actually saw something political and informed me of it, this from the non voter who relies on me to keep informed even on the most well known issues of the day.  BTW - I bitched at him, gave him all he needed to register and informed him if the Christian wackos win and take away my uncle's marriage I'll blame him, nothing worked he didn't register even though he's scared to death of McCain

So anyway apparently Palin  said something like "My son is over in Iraq fighting for your right to protest"  Brian cracked me up... Mr. so uninformed he joked "What's a Biden?"  told me something like "I didn't know Iraq was threatening our freedom of speech".  Politically he's still wiser than Palin.  I'll never understand why people claim the Iraqi war is about our freedom of speech, etc. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.  If anything, this war has been used to take away freedoms.  Please if you can prove to me that the sons of Palin and Biden and McCain and countless others are in Iraq so that I have freedom of speech I'll take this all back, otherwise she's a dumbass for saying such a thing.

I keep forgetting Iraq is just one big party that we were invited to, silly me.  Perhaps our choice of party attire and accessories is what throws me -- they made it LOOK like an invasion.  Just one big costume party, I'm sure.

I'm still not feeling great but must be getting back to my "normal" as it's nearly 5:30 am and I'm awake.  Barely... But this is the latest I've been up in weeks. 

Phantom smell tonight again at first it didn't freak me out, so used to it now.  No Ramie, the house isn't on fire... but then it kept up and I got freaked, I still knew it wasn't real but sat here just panicked until it passed.  Dutchie sat with me, her little paw resting on my arm.  I think she was worried about me, good kitty.

I spent part of my evening skimming Thomas Jefferson quotes.  Odd, one of the men who fought so hard to make our country what it is and if he were alive today, saying some of the things he said, ohhh the things they'd say about him... I'm sure they'd call him UnAmerican.  As I read some of his quotes I could imagine the campaign ads he'd face today.

Guess I'll go sleep, smell is gone... Dutchie is asleep next to me.  Head hurts.  So tired now.  I'll fade to dreamland with a Thomas Jefferson quote they probably wouldn't beat him up over "The glow of one warm thought is to me worth more than money. "  Ohh wait, they'd call it too poetic, which would make him elitist!  That's still the word to use right?

See those worked for those characters... catchphrases belong in sitcoms, mostly ones from the 80s thank you very much. It seems that some words or sets of words are so catchy that everyone wants to turn them into "catchphrases" of their own lately and it's driving me crazy.  It's especially bad in news and politics -- I expect this sort of thing in reality tv "what the frig" (I like that one) and "fierce"... ok in reality tv.... but NEWS and POLITICS?  You people speak for a living, find new words...

Somehow, ever since Obama was labeled an "elitist",  politicians and newscasters have turned the words "elite" and "elitist" into catchphrases.  But they missed the memo that only one character can use a catchphrase.  He's one of those elitist senators... those elitist policies... many variations of the elite catchphrase exist... They seem to be testing out the elite branding, still looking for the right way to use it.  I'm sick of it.  EVERY day I hear a word that a few months ago NO ONE used.

Next up "change".  Change... I think Obama started the change theme this season.  And we all know that when something works the others try to copy it.  But copying someone isn't change.  Find your own catchphrase.  I guess "Talking about Change worked for Obama so I'll do it too" isn't as catchy as just "change" but we're onto you, find a new theme, a phrase all your own that is catchy too, thanks.

Finally, the one that made me want to blow up my tv this morning, "My Friends".  That one is all John McCain's and he can flipping keep it.  But omfg by head is going to explode.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE IT IN EVERY #*@)_! sentence!!! I didn't fall asleep til about 10 am.  Brian went to go take a shower and get ready for work.  McCain speech came on tv, I watched.. and was ready to pull my hair out by the time Brian got out of the shower.  I didn't count but I'm sure in the time Brian took a quick shower "My Friends" was heard 839279027 times.  So my friends, if we want to change things my friends we need to do something my friends because it's bad my friends and no one my friends knows more my friends than I know my friends about what we're talking about my friends and you know my friends I would never my friends steer you wrong friends because my friends I care my friends about you my friends and what the future holds my friends for you and me my friends............ arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian asked me to reschedule my root canal for next Saturday, so I did.  He was worried that me coughing up phlegm this morning could be bad news, he was apparently worried I'd cough at a bad time and bite the dentist's finger off, heh... I forgot to ask him why he wasn't worried about what could happen to ME if I coughed at a bad time with a DRILL in my mouth.  He was probably worried the dentist would bill him if injured and I wouldn't :P

Managed to get out of robe and into clothes long enough to go get coffee

Came straight home and have been laying around in robe ever since with kitties trying to "take care of me" as I lay curled up crampy, dizzy, and overall blech.  Those of you who have kitties probably know, they mean well but their  idea of helping or taking care of you is not always so helpful.  As Brian put it "I know what it's like to be stalked by the paparazzi, I have cats"

On a positive note it's sprinkling, not raining (we've already gotten something like 3 times the rain we got all of last year).  Sprinkling is nice.  Pouring rain is not.

So dizzy I can't even follow these political shows!  It's not a dizzy like the room is spinning dizzy, it's more erm... ugh wish I would explain, but words fail me so back to being curled up and doing nothing I go.

If you're an American, registered to vote, haven't done so in early voting, do it tomorrow!  Don't assume your vote doesn't count or that your candidate(s) are safe without your vote.  Brian, who usually doesn't vote, wants to register because of the last presidential election because it taught him voting does count.
