Welp I'm cursed! Good thing that witches and heathens probably like me. Now as for the rest of you... Watch out for the cursed Halloween candy. Story here. It used to be here too. But as you can see the demons clearly hacked Pat Robertson's site and removed the warning so the good Christians can't be warned of the curses they're about to face.
*edit* Oh, I'd only read the silly fun stuff on page 1 as I posted this. Since I've actually read page two of her BS now - HOLY uneducated ignorant bitch Batman. She seems to be accusing Pagans of being devil worshiping, child raping, fools, that have sex with animals on Halloween? Okay, story not so amusing now. Now she's just beyond stupid. She's a hateful stereotypical giving Christians a bad name loon. How about you don't speak of religions you don't know of. At least not if you didn't skim at least 10 seconds of their most basic beliefs. How much of your religion is stolen from Pagans? Sheesh.
I lied, one more post before bed, too good not to post everywhere.
Prop 8 wasn't the end of the family values fight in California, oh no! Someone finally got it right ;)
See, if you want to really protect the family then you have to REALLY go all of the way to protect those good heterosexual marriages too right? Of course you do. Mommy and Daddy can't divorce! EVER! Think of the children.
'Cause the Bible tells you so...
Has anyone read The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power? I see the author on tv a lot lately and the story of "the family" and "C-street" seems scary, since it's real life stuff. For those of you who haven't heard of it, I'm sure if you do a search on YouTube for Jeff Sharlet (the author) you'll find lots of videos of him talking about this. I've added it to my wishlist to pick up later. But I'm curious if the book is actually a decent read or not? There's only 30 some reviews on Amazon. One who gave it 1 star admits to having not read it and seems to just object to someone who would dare write a book about Christian politicians. Idiots. Who reviews books they don't read and have no intentions of reading? I HATE when people do that. Amazon has a button to report "objectionable" posts but you can't say why you're reporting them, so if you were to report something that is just someone reviewing something when they announce "I haven't seen/read/listened to this item" I suppose Amazon wouldn't remove their review, eh? I find that kind of review objectionable. How rude.
May offend some of you, if you're sensitive about religion, don't click. But now you know why I am how I am. My mommy person sent this to me. Now you know how I ended up this way, how many moms send this to their children? ;)
After seeing what I've seen on my local news since the court ruling it's not a good idea for me to make a post. I need to cool down or any posts I make will just be about the idiots that have been on my tv, they'll be long long long posts. They'll have more foul words than any porno movie could possibly have. I'd like to be more adult than that when I post, believe it or not. But I will say this much for the people who, since the Prop 8 stuff started don't get why it's "so ugly" here when it's not in some other states that have passed similar measures? Consider you're not seeing the local news. I've watched local and national coverage. And there's a reason I'm too angry to write what I'd like to now and it's not what I've seen on national coverage. Let's just say that the people from the Yes campaign are from religious groups and they didn't go to the same church I did growing up, clearly. Then again remember last year I found this website showing I was raised in a cult ;) At least growing up attending a "cult" made me not so hateful, bigoted, ignorant, etc.
Anyway, yeah, I can't even begin to address this issue. So, a quote instead. Now if only I could join in on the discussion in an adult manner right now. I may rant and rant and rant, but even I have my limits...
Bigotry is the disease of ignorance, of morbid minds; enthusiasm of the free and buoyant. Education and free discussion are the antidotes of both. --- Thomas Jefferson
Jerry Brown is now on our side! He's decided Prop 8 should be invalidated by the court after all. Finally someone who is of the legal persuasion who is thinking like the law instead of like the religious types. Sorry, I don't care what your church says. If the state is in the business of marrying people and of recognizing marriages that's a whole different ball game. The state is a legal institution not a religious one and they play by different rules. They can't discriminate. So long as someone is an adult and able to legally able to consent to a contract they can marry.
And now the yes on 8 folk want to make 8 retro active, which is NOT how they wrote the bill. Well FUCK OFF. If you wanted it to be retro, you should have written it that way. You did NOT. Now I'm pissed all over again. My uncle was legally married, is legally married, your deceptive ads about 8 got it passed -- about how Obama supported 8 when he did not, about how churches lose their tax exempt status if it didn't pass which they would not, about how schools have to teach gay marriage if did not pass and you couldn't opt your kids out which was a lie, blah blah blah blah. Gay marriages were already happening, none of that was happening, nor relevant to what 8 was. 8 wasn't about any of that and it wasn't retro active. I read the damn bill. And now you want to take away all of those legal marriages of people, who did what they were told and waited, in some cases, for DECADES to get them legally. Because your religion says so? Well theirs doesn't. And the state married them not your church... so just FUCK OFF. So pissed off.
This whole I'm a good loving Christian, it's not for me to judge anyone thing is crap. Tolerant? Bullshit. You're not even tolerant of the law of the land or other people's views or religions. So you attempt to change the constitution in ways it never should be allowed to be changed, using deception that is anything but Christian like to be sure you get it. And I'd call comparing their marriages to pedophilia judgmental, those of us who have been victims of sex crimes and who actually love some of those gay people you're bashing (while saying no no, I'm not homophobic) take great offense that you'd essentially make light of sex offenses in such a way.
Sorry but gays are born gay and if you believe in God and that he/she loves all of his/her children, you totally fail in honoring him / her if you decide they're somehow less than you just because they're gay and you're not. I don't understand how people are so quick to believe a Bible that everyone knows no God wrote him/her self, but can't stop to think that perhaps he or she could test them to see how they treat all of his/her children. And it would seem if we're being tested by such a God, a lot of us are failing.
Still, thank you Jerry Brown, I know you're putting your job on the line with this sudden change of heart. And weren't the yes on 8 people all over my damn tv saying they wouldn't go after the existing marriages after 8 passed? Yeah, more lies, imagine that. Isn't lying one of their sins?
My grandmother was the sweetest woman you'd ever meet, really...
But it seems she had me and everyone in town fooled as she raised me in a cult.
See, while talking to Misi about religion I was looking up the church that that sweet loving woman had raised me in, as I occasionally do when religious topics come up, because frankly my version of Christianity and most other people's is quite different thanks to being raised in that church. It's basically a very liberal Christian church. At least that's how I remember it. I quit going when grandma got sick. She died when I was 14.
Well, loooooookie what I found, this page claims that Unity is a cult !!!! Guess that explains why I turned out as I did ;) lol.
So I had to click on the the link to get the answer as to why Unity is a cult...
"Unity is considered a cult because of their beliefs and teachings that deviate significantly from the biblical truth about God, Jesus, Bible, sin and salvation. Heavily influenced by many other religions, Unity attempts to incorporate the best parts of all religions, cults, and beliefs"
OMG! They stray from the BIBLE!
Here's what Unity's web site says about the Bible:
Unity co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, studied the Bible as history and allegory, and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind's evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries.
We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written.
In other words, they're not dumb asses who are like well the Bible says, God says... they actually just say yeah tons of people wrote that and they take it for that ;)
It seems what others wrote or believed = fact, what people in Unity wrote or believe = just silly beliefs that = cult.
Unity tries to incorporate the best of things, wow, something that encourages the best of religions, "cults" (not sure I trust this site's definition of cults), and beliefs... yeah you wouldn't want a religion that just leaves in the good and gets rid of the crap would you.
So I'd like to come out of the cult closet now! I never knew I was raised in a cult. While I'm still, as an adult, undecided about religion / God/Goddess(es) etc... I do know now why I'm still able to try to make these decisions on my own, while not having been convinced either way, it is clearly because my grandparents spent the most impressionable years of my life brainwashing me.. I was never deprogrammed. Thank you, grandma and grandpa and mom... your years of allowing me to suffer through this... this.. CULT *cries* made me turn out much better than if you had sent me to I dunno.... well I won't name any names, but one of those other *cough* cults.
As a kid I kind of thought that getting up on Sunday for church was, erm hell frankly, but honestly the one we went to was never preachy or rude or ooooh you sinners or this group of people is bad or... whatever. That cult is one of the only churches that doesn't make me want to vomit upon hearing its name. Ohh but as I said, I was never deprogrammed.
