They say they happen in threes... dunno about that, but first Jim Carroll, now RIP Patrick Swayze.... so who is next?
And rude people seem to happen in more than threes lately. Kanye West... really? What kind of grown man does that, especially to a teen? At least Beyoncé had some class. People stop watching the town halls and congress for lessons in manners and how to act in public and watch Beyoncé instead. And yeah I realize I just said that for lessons in class you should watch a chick on an MTV award show hosted by Russell Brand. It seems that is what our country has come to.
RIP Jim Carroll :(
Time to break out his books. I only have The Basketball Diaries, Forced Entries: The Downtown Diaries: 1971-1973
, Forced Entries: The Downtown Diaries: 1971-1973
, and Void of Course
but my copy of Void of Course says not for sale on the outside on the inside says it's an unrevised and unpublished proof, etc. I love this copy for some reason, I'm guessing it's a bit rarer than the published copies. I've had several Jim Carroll things on my Amazon wish list for years and just never gotten around to getting them. He rocked :(
This is one of the songs that helped me through CynDee's death.
Ted Kennedy died...
Only the strongest advocates for health care reform this country ever had. If you look at virtually any bill that helped the ill / disabled / children in this country, he played a role in it.
RIP :(
RIP John Hughes. Thanks for The Breakfast Club. When it came out on VHS, way way back when, everyone in my house liked it. So we watched it, and watched it, and watched it. Sixteen Candles
and Pretty in Pink
were fun too. Ohh we must have watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off
about a billion times too. So yeah... RIP to John Hughes, the man who made the comedies that we couldn't get enough of in the 80s.
RIP Walter Cronkite. He was 92. Most well known for telling the world that JFK had died. It seems like most of the old school news guys are gone or going.
So as I slept during the day both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died. Farrah was not a surprise. This morning they were talking about how she'd taken a turn for the worse and it was minute by minute. RIP to her, her special about her battle with cancer at least inspired people to fight their own battles.
Michael Jackson though, that one surprised the hell out of me. Most recently he's of course known for that trial, which put my hometown on the map for a brief moment. He dangled his baby out a window. He was clearly... off. And yet, before all of the crazy wtf??? stuff I also remember that his Thriller record (yes vinyl) was the first one my sister owned, when she was oh 3 or 4? and she walked around in a too big Michael Jackson shirt with MJ buttons, singing those songs telling us she'd marry him when she grew up. Shhh don't tell her I'm posting this she'll kill me.
And there's his videos. He made awesome videos back when MTV was still a channel for videos that is. He was a mess and brilliant both. RIP to him.
And now he's gone and has left behind kids which is really what should be the big concern now, especially since there is a lot of talk about drugs and "handlers" and enabling.
Also reports that people are leaving flowers / tributes at the wrong MJ star on the walk of fame. His is covered by a red carpet for the Brüno premiere.
RIP Ed EcMahon.
If you get sick, you want to be Steve Jobs rich. DUH.
I saw the Lt. Gov. of SC on Rachel Maddow's show. Man, I gotta say, he kind of sounded pissed off, heh. I would too if I had his job or were a citizen of SC or say the wife and family of the SC governor. Seriously, WTF? I'm pretty sure governors aren't supposed to disappear for a week without even telling their staff and family where they're going -- during Father's day weekend. Then, oh hey, he was just hiking during hike naked day? Umm. Yeah, sure. Didn't turn over power to the Lt. Gov. Just took off. For at least 5 days, we'll see how long it actually turns out to be. Good governor.
Iran is claiming Neda's murder was staged. Yeah, ok. Somewhere else said they're implying that protesters shot her otherwise they couldn't have gotten the video and gotten it out to the world so quickly. That's so believable. Do citizens even have weapons? I've been following citizen news from there and it seems like none of them have real ways to defend themselves let alone ways to shoot a girl on the street.
Between the reviews and the trailers I think I've decided to pass on the latest Transformers movie. Brian was going to go see it and if he wanted to see it again, he figured that would mean it's good enough that I'd want to see it, but so far he's thinking it sounds like such a dud he's not sure even he wants to see it and he loves Transformers. At least I have HP soon, the one movie I expect to be brilliant this year (besides Brian's movie, of course). I still think I want to see Brüno too, but not because I expect it to be brilliant, I don't -- I expect it to be okay but good cheesy fun.
Had been so exhausted for two weeks that moving took real effort. I'm finally getting energy slowly back and it's being replaced by pain. My friend said exhaustion sounds better. I tend to agree at least when the exhaustion isn't totally gone yet. This must be that active disease they talked about. Argh.
Since I love the Jimmy Kimmel show....
RIP Veatrice :(
She was such a good smart ass.
BTW, also Brendan Fraser, was he on something? If not how in the hell can one person have that much erm energy naturally? Because MS just totally zaps my energy on some days, so much so that I like to say I have negative energy - except Brian starts in with geek talk about how I can't really say it's negative energy, blah blah blah, I don't know, I don't listen to his geek talk heh, I'm joking with the negative energy thing sheesh! Anyway, If I had 1/10000th of the energy Brendan Fraser had on Jimmy Kimmel tonight, I'd be set.
RIP Madelyn Payne Dunham aka Toots aka Obama's Grandma. How sad she passed away today, the day before the election. I'm glad she at least got to see how much her grandson did. He got people involved in politics who never cared before. She did a good job helping to raise him and it's sad she missed seeing tomorrow...
If even ONE idiot says anything stupid about her death I'm gonna lose it. That should go without saying but I didn't think anyone could say anything stupid about him going to see his dying grandma and then that one idiot did try to say his visit to grandma was a bigger waste of money than Palin's clothes...
4 dead, 2 injured (including Travis Barker - former Blink 182 drummer) in plane crash
*edits*
the 2nd injured is being reported as having been DJ AM, other 4 on board still unknown. Both are in critical condition at a burn center.
They've confirmed two of the dead = pilot and co-pilot and two others dead were male passengers.... considering they were there performing with Perry Farrell and Gavin DeGraw I've already seen people posting RIP Perry messages on news sites... I think it's gonna be a sad day for the music world... Though the identities of those other two deceased have not been confirmed as of now.
People is reporting a rep for Gavin DeGraw says he was not on board. TMZ reporting Perry Farrell not on plane.
RIP to those who died :(
Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif
Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles
pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif
co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad
