Books:
Yes I am way behind on my reading, but still I downloaded the kindle version of InterWorld because umm hello, it's Neil Gaiman and I haven't read it and it's bargain price ($3.99 for kindle, $6.80 for hardcover, $6.99 for paperback). Last time I waited on one of those bargain price books they were gone, so I snatched it up now, because even Neil Gaiman's worst is probably better than most people's best.
People are crazy:
It seems that Brian's movie isn't the only movie under attack. The #2 movie in the country is also under attack. What movie is currently #2? The Princess and the Frog. Yeah... I did just announce that people are crazy. I don't even have the patience to follow this. I'm all crazy people'd out. Best I can tell from the 4 or 5 stories I skimmed -- if you have a movie with good vs evil themes and religious undertones, you need to flat out go ahead and put Jesus or Christians in it otherwise it's just VooDoo mumbo jumbo and bad for your good Christian children. Or something. I dunno. They lost me on this one since I haven't seen the movie though the clips I've seen and the reviews I've seen make it appear to be just your average kids movie. I mean seriously -- kids can't read HP because OMFG they might turn into ev0l witches! They shouldn't watch Princess and the Frog because it's not Christian enough? People are crazy! Where were you people when I was growing up? No one complained as I was watching this. And lemme tell you, that's scarier than anything that kids have now! But then these kids are smarter than their parents, they know that a movie is just a movie, that the bad guys aren't real, that the magic isn't real, etc. And it's not like these movies are porn or anything -- though I bet they let their kids on the net and they can probably find the characters from these movies in porn pics if they search enough. Bet their parents aren't monitoring for that.
Tea party folk are idiots. Now they wanna force the schools to have Christmas Carols or be sued. Because right now, California schools DO allow Christmas Carols if they don't promote specific religious beliefs. I loved this part of the story: "Bottom line is Christmas is about Christmas," said Erin Ryan, president of the Redding Tea Party Patriots. "That's why we have it. It's not about winter solstice or Kwanzaa. It's like, 'Wow you guys, it's called Christmas for a reason.' "
Really? I kind of thought it was about winter solstice. When was Jesus born again? You kinda stole December from Pagans.
Now I'm really confused about what the Tea Party crowd stands for. Get the government out of my life! Except maybe the public schools (aka the Government) should teach the children religious carols. That'd be good. Damn immoral sinners aren't teaching their kids Jesus stuff good enough, we gotta protect the children or they may become atheists or worse, Pagans or Muslims or Harry Potter readers! So yeah the government better step in NOW!
So many things wrong with that ad.
First off -- Don't use your kids in political ads, speaking for them. This pisses me off. Not in serious ads anyways. It's amusing in spoofs. In real ads? It's not cute. And that is NOT a spoof, it's a real ad, airing in several markets. I like how the baby is like huh? Exactly. Huh? WTF are you speaking for me for? Keegan is much older than that kid and I guarantee you he doesn't have an opinion on health care reform. He's a smart kid. We let him form his own opinions. I've posted before about he is starting to use his own logic to try to figure out things like is Santa real or not. How he has asked about churches. Etc. So yes, kids can ask questions. They can and should be allowed to form their own opinions, you shouldn't brainwash them. You shouldn't use them. That whole hold up babies on the floor of congress to pretend they're against a bill? That pisses me off too -- they're against dirty diapers. Ask them when they're capable of real thoughts and are asking questions. The closest Keegan's come to health care reform? He thinks that if they do cure MS using money from the walks that he takes part in then they should use the money they have left over to help homeless people because they had a marching band at one of them, which woke up a guy sleeping under a bridge -- he thought that was mean, especially since it was REALLY loud and sleeping under a bridge in Portland is already tough since it gets cold there. So I don't think he'll be appearing in health care reform commercials anytime soon.
Second off -- WTF? Very informative ad. only 12% of voters think opponents are racist? That's not much. And given the number of wackos who hold signs which are racist at anti-health care rallies, that's a fair number who believe that. You're a racist because you're against health care reform? I've been very vocal is saying *I* think the current status of health care reform is wrong. It appears to get it passed we'll likely get no public option. We'll get hey we know we said private insurance is broken but we need everyone covered so buy from them or pay big fines. We won't make them lower costs but for you really sick people have fun paying more than a family or four pays. w00t! Reform accomplished. And your diseases that make it cost so much? They won't have to cover those for the first x years that you're covered. Yeah so, I'll HAVE to buy insurance at a cost so high I'll be living in the ghetto. I won't be covered, really. I'll no longer be able to go see doctors for what I really need to see them for as insurance won't cover it and I won't be able to afford the $400 visits now. Good reform. But I'm a racist for objecting to THAT? No. And I never said YOU were. I said the people with racist signs were. And they are.
Third off -- Complete and utter marketing failure. If you're against reform, give real reasons, like I just did. Not a cute kid sucking on a sugary piece of candy telling me she's a racist. With a just say no because 12% of voters think she's a racist because her mommy says she's against health reform message. Idiots. You make me wish I was FOR the current bill. I don't like being on the same side as you brain dead fools. Even if my reasons for being against it are different.
Obama is screwing up health care. Dunno what he'll do with these stupid wars. But at least he's smarter than the Bush administration was. I am 99.9999999999999999999% sure that had 9/11 happened during the Obama administration and had they been stupid enough to declare a war against terrorism (which by itself was the stupidest thing ever as you cannot win such a war as there will always be criminals and therefore terrorists) they'd still at least never have said this:
So Ft. Hood = terrorism, not to be political or anything. But 9/11 wasn't, not to be political. She was the mouth piece for the Bush administration. Utter fail. Either she's saying that 9/11 wasn't terrorism and therefore their whole war on terror was a joke. Or she just forgot. Or... well who knows. I mean 9/11 really wasn't that big of a deal I suppose -- just a bunch of people dying, a couple of buildings crumbling, and it was just their entire administration pretty much. Good thing we didn't have a terrorist attack during Bush's term.
Stupid people. Um so if you are in charge of tweeting the news and three are accused of rape and it's a big story are you supposed to say -- no, we better not tell our followers THAT story because we've got that darned digital billboard with the three anchors on it. Or wait until we have several stories to add at once so it won't be the one to show on the billboard? I wouldn't even think of the billboard to be honest, if my job was to keep up the twitter page. And people were suspended for -- keeping up their followers with the news. Good job. If you want them to be so current that you're even twittering people the news on digital billboards, this is what will happen. You can't then suspend people for it. Jackasses.
As seen on Jimmy Kimmel -- Awful Library Books! I think my favorite title thus far would be Dissection Guide for the Cat (and Selected Sheep Organs). Oddly enough it's never come up in my Amazon recommendations. Also tempting is Anyone Can Be Cool... But Awesome Takes Practice. Oh and Looking Forward to Being Attacked. How cheery! Some of those books don't look that awful, just awfully outdated.
I just made the mistake of watching the Carrie Prejean / Larry King interview. I think my IQ just dropped. Wow she's dumb. And a brat to boot. And she's a media darling on the right? She's pretty much being held up as a role model for girls. Yes, because she's for "opposite marriage". She's dumb as a brick. Personally, I thought the quote from Donald Trump was more insulting than what Larry King asked her himself. She just tee hee hee'd about the Donald Trump quote like it was the cutest thing in the world. The question Larry asked was easy -- Why did you settle? Not WHAT was the settlement. He basically said, yeah I know you can't talk about that. But WHY did you go into the mediation for a settlement. Your motivation isn't blocked in an agreement. Just the terms are. Still she didn't want to answer that, so he joked about how rude he was and moved on. She had a temper tantrum anyway. Ripped off her mic. Acted like she'd leave because Larry is like Oh, my, God, soooooo rude. But she really wanted the attention so she stayed. But then she didn't seem to get why she couldn't reeeeallly hear him or be heard. Larry is telling her well if you put the mic on you could hear and we could hear you. DUH. If she is who the daughters of the far right are supposed to look up to, good luck to them. When you raise a generation of girls too stupid to be anything but covergirls, have fun with that. I mean I guess maybe they can always speak up for opposite marriage and tell us that they think that you know that um God he like um totally like umm thinks that umm like umm gays they umm teee hee uhh should totally like be friends and stuff but um you know they should not have sex because in his Bible God says that you should only have sex if you're married and tee hee that's only if you're a boy and a girl. But it's okay if you're gonna go to hell, we'll all be friends until that happens. Or -- you know they can make sex tapes of their own. Whatever. By the way why isn't God against boob jobs? Except in the cases of cancer. Just wondering. What's wrong with what he gave you? Why are you going against God's will?
Douchebag alert. I don't really care about sports, but I do love bringing douchebags to your attention. So my douchebag of the day is CNBC's Darren Rovell. Who the hell is he? No clue. Just a douchebag. I love that word. Why is he one? Because America won the NYC men's marathon for the first time since 1982. *cue the evil music* or did we? Not so much according to Darren Rovell. It doesn't REALLY count as an American victory because the winner, Meb Keflezighi, IS an American citizen BUT he wasn't BORN here, he CHOSE to become an American citizen (he's lived here since he was 12 or something). So he's not REALLY one of ours. Yeah. Darren Rovell, douchebag.
What's that? You have a hard time believing he was that blunt? His own words here. He's such a douchebag that he ends it by announcing that he won't be breaking out his red, white, and blue until someone who was BORN here is on that winner's podium.
Welp I'm cursed! Good thing that witches and heathens probably like me. Now as for the rest of you... Watch out for the cursed Halloween candy. Story here. It used to be here too. But as you can see the demons clearly hacked Pat Robertson's site and removed the warning so the good Christians can't be warned of the curses they're about to face.
*edit* Oh, I'd only read the silly fun stuff on page 1 as I posted this. Since I've actually read page two of her BS now - HOLY uneducated ignorant bitch Batman. She seems to be accusing Pagans of being devil worshiping, child raping, fools, that have sex with animals on Halloween? Okay, story not so amusing now. Now she's just beyond stupid. She's a hateful stereotypical giving Christians a bad name loon. How about you don't speak of religions you don't know of. At least not if you didn't skim at least 10 seconds of their most basic beliefs. How much of your religion is stolen from Pagans? Sheesh.
So MS is in the news thanks to swine flu and our friends in Florida. Seems voting is not the only thing they have wrong. Health care too. They're singling out MS in regards to how to ration health care if a swine flu pandemic hits. *blinks* Idiots.
Apparently they're preparing for their hospitals being too full and they want to know who they should deny treatments to. #1 on their list is apparently incurable cancer and #2 appears to be end stage Multiple Sclerosis. It's all over the news. Do they not educate people in Florida? Not even their doctors? Death by MS is so rare. In fact we don't really DIE FROM MS so much as... okay -- it's an auto-immune disease. The brain and spine control every organ, in MS they get scarred up and so everything goes wonky. We can have all sorts of issues. If we get infections or whatever it can be harder to fight. Our bodies often fight things that they should not fight and then hey when it comes time to fight what they should, well, it can be a bitch.
I'd never even heard the term end stage Multiple Sclerosis before today. BTW - people learn to enunciate. It sounds like half of them are saying IN stage and the first story that I saw, it wasn't clear what they were talking about so I was like "What in the hell is IN stage MS?" When they finally got to the talk of people who are dying of cancer, etc I went "Oooh, END stage, duh." MS is a horrible disease, it sucks. It makes my life a bitch. It's nothing like what people dying of cancer go through though, I'm sure. So few people die of it. Not enough to turn it into a national story about how there's enough of us dying that hey if there's a pandemic yeah between cancer patients and people dying of MS -- if we leave them out of the ERs we'll have room. Such bullshit. Now if they said something like we have a lot of MS patients who come to our ERs for IV treatments and during the swine flu season we would like their neurologists to keep them out -- THAT I could buy.
Yes MS is a horrific disease and yes right now I get so dizzy I can't stand for long, I whine, I feel like hell, I get tired, I cannot walk for long, etc etc. BUT, I'm not dying. I probably won't die of it. To even hint that "end stage Multiple Sclerosis" is some sort of a major issue, big enough that if you have a pandemic it's #2 behind cancer in how to free up hospital beds... ?? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Yes, a few will die from complications related to having MS but MS is NOTHING like cancer. There's really NO such thing as terminal MS. If something happens and you get sick, having a screwed up immune system from something like MS and a brain and spine scarred to hell and back - yes, that might speed up your death. MS is NOT really terminal itself anymore. Maybe in the way way past. Florida -- get your heads out of your asses and educate yourselves. I could probably name a dozen illnesses myself where the patients would be at bigger risk being in the hospital during a swine flu pandemic and/or who would bring you more patients taking up more beds than terminal MS patients.
Jack Thompson is suing Facebook for $120 million. If you don't feel like clicking on that link, I'll tell you what FB did -- and keep in mind I find FB rather annoying -- NOTHING. They let a group stay up. What group? The "I Hate Jack Thompson" Group. If there ever were a lawsuit that warranted on giant LOL, this is it. Jack Thompson passed law classes? I'm too lazy to lookup what law school he went to, but they should be ashamed. I only have a two year associate degree in paralegal studies from a business college -- and yet my law instructors would be ashamed if I had suggested that this were a real claim. The page claims he's a douche. Sorry, this lawsuit proves their point.
He's worried about threats made against him there. Then take them to law enforcement so they can investigate the individuals making them, not FB as a whole. You know why he doesn't do that? I can guess. I assume it's because they're such silly threats that no one takes them seriously and by people he feels have no money. But FB? Ohh ca-ching.
People call people names online all of the time. Some anon now semi-regular commenter on LJ from FL has taken to calling me lovely names over my political posts. Boo hoo. If only I knew I could sue them for $120 million! Oh wait, they're not FB and I'm not a douche bag, publicity seeking, attention whore.
Now he can sue Vox and LJ too for me posting this.
