I'm pretty sure there is a weather conspiracy *nods*
We left the house and weather.com said it was 82 F... Not THAT bad for a hot summer day eh? Especially when it says "feels like" 82 as well. Good, It will be hot'ish but I won't melt. BS! I asked Brian if it felt like 82 to him. No, more like high 80s. This guy who works in a store we go to (which has AC, thank goodness) also comments on how hot it is but he's glad he's inside. Then tells us yesterday when they said the high in the valley was only 105 all the thermometers he saw in the same city that 105 came from said 114.
I've decided the powers that be have faulty thermometers and/or are on crack. My AC can't even cool my 1 bedroom apartment to below 81 yet because it was so hot here today. 82 today. Right.
Hmm noon on the east coast, usually charges clear my cc by now and still pending so looking like it might be Monday. Figures, though I was so sure it'd be today, my psychic powers are brokeded :P I really want to get rid of this bad business. Ahh well I've still spotted it sooner than so many seem to, a few more days I suppose won't kill me and their BBB has notified them of my complaint, they have until July 2nd to reply.
It feels a little cooler in here for now -- until the day time heat kicks back in and my phantom smells seem gone for the day. They seem to only come around for a few minutes every few days or once a week or something for the last several weeks now. Maybe I can sleep now that I'm not worried about smelling fake burning stuff or having to call my cc company again since that seems unlikely today. Seriously when I go see the neuro next month phanton smells are question #1 as it's really annoying for several minutes to smell fire - not cigarette smoke, not like someone cooking, but like all out hmm something is BURNING... and to look around all paranoid and nothing is wrong anywhere. It's less annoying when it's random nice smells for several minutes but still it's a real WTF? where is that coming from sensation. It's driving me a little crazy though it seems not that uncommon for people with all kind of brain issues... it's just weird. And though it's only a few minutes at a time and sometimes then goes away for days or a week, it leaves me just weirded out for hours. Life with a broken brain is one giant amusement park.
zzzzzzzzzzzzz Scott McClellan testifying before the House today... can I really sleep with that on my tv? !!!
11 pm... 71 degrees outside... and I live on the west side... holy...
I am pretty sure I moved to hell overnight...
It feels like it's 101000088987398 degrees and I've now, for the first time this year had to empty our portable AC... and not once but three times in less than 6 hours.
Hello Summer, go away. I mean really compared to a lot of the country we have nice weather year round, so no longer like Summer. Like rest of the year. Summer can bite me. Summer = extra active brain aliens.
Still waiting for the last charge to clear so I can cancel my card, I am pretty sure it will happen tomorrow.
Cold or allergies. Fun.
Politics:
Hmm Insomnia posted yet another interesting post, I'll just let you read his post here instead of ranting about it myself as he rants far better than I do ;) But basically, it seems that voters in predominately black areas of NC received calls explaining they only needed to sign and return their voter packets -- WITHOUT VOTING, to be eligible to vote. In other words a. they clearly think these people are stupid and b. this woman's organization targeted mostly black voters trying to suppress their votes. I'm a news junkie and haven't seen it on mainstream national news yet so, errm... wtf?
In other political news, mom once wanted to nearly disown me because I liked the Clintons. That was before Hillary ran in this election. Hillary has now convinced me that she's a closeted Republican so I no longer support her and with Edwards gone I support Obama. My sister has taken up my to be disowned spot by announcing she'll be voting for Hillary in the Oregon Primary, heh.
Dutch:
I have picked up my Dutch books only to, as predicted, read the first few chapters, again! BUT, I also have Pimsleur beginner Dutch CDs and have listened to lessons 1-6 (of 10 lessons I think) during the last few days. So far, since it is beginner stuff, it's a lot of hello, how are you types of things. Which is good, I know to spell those things I'm hearing. Lesson 6 has moved onto the would you like something to drink types of things. Eeek. I always said the Dutch letter g scared me, and it does. But hearing the word "graag" eeek. *hides* I know it's nowhere near the worst, but it's the first gr word and multiple letters g word I've heard. Oh man if I tried to say that in front of a Dutchie they'd be laughing for a year. Guess I have to go back to being an American now.
Health:
So I slept on and off from 4 am until 4pm yesterday. We've been having record high temps for this time of year. It's finally supposed to drop down now... to record lows possibly. Ugh. My body doesn't like when the weather jumps all over the place. Especially not when record highs start early in the year. Brain aliens in full effect. Pain alien been around. Exhaustion alien. MS IS NOT HAPPY. MOTHER NATURE MAKE UP YOUR MIND ABOUT THE WEATHER! In fact if I get extra ranty or mess up lots of words, yeah, brain aliens around, sorry.
Gonna be one of those days. Been up for hours but haven't felt awake yet at all.
Anyone have an IV of caffeine they'd like to hook me up to?
*yawn*
Exhaustion alien: 1 Me: *yawn*
I got enough sleep. It's just exhaustion alien for sure. My eyes are watering from yawning so much, just typing this has me more exhausted, I almost did the grandpa "resting my eyes" thing while typing this even. You all had a grandpa who did that right? Just resting my eyes... right while SNORING. If you're still answering me you're resting your eyes. If you're snoring or drooling you're asleep! :P
Maybe the fan will help, the thermostat thing said 90 something last night even when on high, it's finally cooled the room down to 78. Controlling the temps in here have been a bitch when we've already had nearly 100 degree days (over 100 at Disneyland aka Anaheim but more like 95 over here by the beach) and then a few days later it'd drop by over 30 degrees and be chilly at night. So the apartment heats up, turn fan on, it cools off finally, then gets cold at night and need heat, turn that on, then BAM hot again, fan on, soon as it cools off apartment again, you guessed it... heh. Vicious cycle.
The fact that we've already had such hot days makes me think Summer is just days ok maybe weeks away and ohh man, the term hotter than hell comes to mind. And green trends or not, I WILL have my AC and fan on 24/7 and if they have to be set on make me feel like I'm sitting in a tub of ice they will be :P
I guess I should try to do something anyway. Art, read... hmm need energy for everything. Ugh. And head hurts some, not pain alien levels but still an ache. Hrmph. Oh well I will find something to do to appear productive anyway, though I couldn't follow The Tim Russert show... I couldn't follow POLITICS! Yeah, one of THOSE days.
Brian asked me to reschedule my root canal for next Saturday, so I did. He was worried that me coughing up phlegm this morning could be bad news, he was apparently worried I'd cough at a bad time and bite the dentist's finger off, heh... I forgot to ask him why he wasn't worried about what could happen to ME if I coughed at a bad time with a DRILL in my mouth. He was probably worried the dentist would bill him if injured and I wouldn't :P
Managed to get out of robe and into clothes long enough to go get coffee
Came straight home and have been laying around in robe ever since with kitties trying to "take care of me" as I lay curled up crampy, dizzy, and overall blech. Those of you who have kitties probably know, they mean well but their idea of helping or taking care of you is not always so helpful. As Brian put it "I know what it's like to be stalked by the paparazzi, I have cats"
On a positive note it's sprinkling, not raining (we've already gotten something like 3 times the rain we got all of last year). Sprinkling is nice. Pouring rain is not.
So dizzy I can't even follow these political shows! It's not a dizzy like the room is spinning dizzy, it's more erm... ugh wish I would explain, but words fail me so back to being curled up and doing nothing I go.
First the tornado warnings (a roof was damaged or torn off a building depending on which reports you believe). And now three or four avalanches in the mountains with one dead (as of now, it seems some are still missing). This is very un-California like. We were supposed to have traded in weather in exchange for the quake risks. At least I thought that was how it worked. Every time someone points out ohh you live where they have earthquakes no thanks, blah blah then I point out they live where they have weather and we don't get major quakes every year but they do get weather.
Seriously I think Southern California has had enough. Fires. Flooding. Mudslides. Tornado warnings. Avalanches.
We get quakes every day though most are too small to feel. Someone else's turn for all of this. I mean seriously we must have the most Priuses per capita, surely that makes Mother Nature happy? ;)
Ohh and now a copter just crashed onto a freeway. WTF... the world is ending, I'm sure of it.
[21:11:31] [me] Tornado warning in Southwestern LA county... WTF... omg
[21:11:58] [me] so my bf "I'm gonna go outside if I'm not back in 5 minutes call my cell phone"
[21:12:28] [me] Since when does California get Tornados holy shit
[21:12:54] [me] My tv is telling people in Malibu to find shelter or lay in a ditch
Dunno if you guys heard, but holiday shopping season is in full effect. OMFG it's a zoo out there! Lock your doors, stay inside, save yourselves! Everyone and their brother and their brother's friend and their brother's friend's cousin are out! I never see that LA traffic unless we take a freeway (usually when going to the parks, Queen Mary, UCLA and even then it's usually not toooo bad except as you get near offramps). But today, holy traffic batman. Average roads had traffic! In general drivers still didn't scare me but pedestrians = idiots. Ohh and if you BLOCK the only entrance into a shopping center so bad that it's causing traffic out on the main street to get blocked and you just sit there acting like a DUMBASS about it and eventually people start to honk and you FINALLY move over just enough to let people into said shopping center then the normal human reaction isn't to flip them all off as YOU are the idiot.
I did get a Chill Hub, killing two birds with one stone. My laptop gets quite hot. My laptop has two USB ports. I use a full sized wireless mouse and keyboard, my tablet, my iPod, etc. That right there is three USB items. Then occasionally plug in my phone or the camera. And my Christmas present will be an external HD, so another USB item. Yay! BTW BIG BIG BIG BONUS POINTS to the company that made this product -- in a day and age where everything is packaged in so much heavy duty plastic that you all but need a chainsaw to open anything, they *gasp* perforated the plastic for easy opening! <3
And finally... On the way home from Robeks the sky opened and water poured out, a lot. Got drenched walking from the door to the car and was at the closest parking spot.
Oooh! Purrrty! And this one too!
